A-Rod as Centaur? Kate Hudson Says That's Crazy Talk

Does Alex Rodriguez keep a portrait of himself as a centaur above his bed? Kate Hudson, the slugger's girlfriend and one of the few persons in this world who could answer that question, has laughed off the rumor as "horrible" and "the craziest thing anyone has ever asked me."

MTV News sat down with the actress to discuss 'Nine,' but pivoted the interview to talk centaurs and whether there was any validity to Us Weekly's report that A-Rod commissions artists to make him into a half-man, half-horse creature.

"I would never indulge in something so ridiculous. That's ... no, I don't indulge in those types of stories," she continued, "As humorous as you might think they are."

Us claimed to have a first-hand account of the portraits. An ex-girlfriend revealed there were "not one, but two painted portraits of himself as a centaur" in his bedroom, adding "It was ridiculous."

Shhhh. A Quiet Courtship for Two Huge Stars

Though she isn't afraid to appear in public with her man -- or cheer him on at Yankee games -- Hudson has gone to great lengths not to discuss details of their relationship.

However, Hudson revealed at a taping of 'Inside the Actors Studio' on Tuesday that she met A-Rod "years ago through a mutual friend." After marriages for both fizzled, and boyfriends and Madonnas came and went, the pair reportedly got together some time in the past year.

They were first photographed together in early July in Beverly Hills, the Daily News reported, but their courtship wasn't officially confirmed until July 25 when she and Rodriguez locked lips during a Yankee family picnic event.

Hudson says she has no choice but to try and keep her relationship out of the spotlight.

"The tabloid culture is insane," she said on Tuesday when asked by 'Studio' boss James Lipton, "You can't even get a sandwich without being engaged!"

Asked if she was at least having fun with her new boyfriend, she responded with a big "Yes!"

Much has been said or written (by us here and here) about the impact Hudson has had on A-Rod's prowess at the plate. When he was dating Madonna last year, A-Rod struggled at the plate and the Yankees failed to even make the playoffs. With Hudson, however, his power surge thrilled fans accustomed to his October failings and helped propel the Yanks to a World Series win.

"She's certainly not hurting his game," Jesse Derris of Sunshine of Sachs & Associates, which has a fast-growing sports practice, told us. "Hell, the Yankees should retire her number if he keeps hitting in the clutch."

Rodriguez divorced ex-wife Cynthia last fall, while Hudson split from Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson (with whom she has a son, Ryder) in 2007.

She's lost any respect I ever had for her. Course that's not much, because I always thought that she was playing off of her mother's fame and likeness. A-Roid is a joke. I'd chase his ass down the steps with a bat if he ever came looking for one of my daughters.

Whatever! Kate is an excellent actress on her own merit and doesn't need to "trade" on her mother's fame. You are an idiot. And no one of Alex Rodriguez fame would do such a thing, if for no other reason than it would get out. It is absolutley amazing how this trash ends up being treated as gospel. We all need to get a life ... but most especially you, moron!

I think they deserve each other! You can call him A-Roid, etc., whatever, it is all well deserved I am sure. And just what makes her so great? In the looks department she is OK, at BEST!!! She has an OK body, again, AT BEST!!! Having said that, I think that looks and the bod are WITHOUT A DOUBT secondary to the type of person someone is. But she's just like the rest of Hollywood!! Everytime you turn around she is fooling around with someone else, even while she was married to that freaky punk rocker. I'm a lifelong Yankees fan, and I don't think he's the best player on the team, let alone the whole sport! But that's beside the point... the point is, who cares if he has pictures of himself as a centaur? Who cares if Kate Hudson is only famous because she rides on her mother's coattails? None of us know these people, nor will we... so why don't we just leave them alone. They obviously don't feel it's anyone's business but theirs what happens in their relationship and I totally agree. Just because they're on tv or in movies or on a famous baseball team doesn't mean they're important enough for us to spend all this time talking about them and voicing opinions about their personal lives. They're entertainers, not your next door neighbor. Geez.

Look, maybe neither of them looked too sure when they were with other people, but I think the relationship is good for both of them and they do look good together as a couple. Never really thought much of A-Rod (not really into sports), but always enjoyed K-Hud. (Are they now K-Rod?) Anyway, once they got their relationship going I took a closer look at him and his work and he ain't so bad. What happened in past relationships is just that-past. Who are we to judge? They are both single right now and so it's their own business what they do. Don't we all wish we could afford to date and date and date until we met someone who just fully swept us off our feet? Regular folk cannot so we lust after the tales of those who can...lol.
