Susan Boyle Talks of Bullies and Beatings
Susan Boyle's unlikely success story just got even more amazing, with the revelation that she was beaten and bullied as a child.
"You're looking at someone who would get the belt every day," the 'Britain's Got Talent' star told the
Daily Mirror.
Boyle said she was tormented by classmates and beaten by teachers because of her learning disabilities. "I'm just a wee bit slower at picking things up than other people," she said. "So you get left behind in a system that just wants to rush on, you know? That was what I felt was happening to me."
"There was discipline for the sake of discipline back then," Boyle continued. "But it's all very different now. I think teachers are taught to understand children with learning disabilities a lot better."
She admitted that being bullied by her classmates was just as hurtful. "There's nothing worse than another person having power over you by bullying you and you not knowing how to get rid of that thing."
But for Boyle, music is "a complete emotional release" from thoughts of her troubled past. "I had a slight disability, but rather than let that rule my life I had to find my abilities and make the most of them instead," she said. "This feels like a good way of making up for that – a very, very enjoyable way of making up for it as well."
It's also turned out to be a very sucessful way of making up for it. Boyle's debut CD 'I Dreamed a Dream,' which releases on Monday, is already the most pre-ordered of all time.

Susan is the most real person--she wasn't ashame of anything and still faced the world in a smile. She wasn't concerned about her appearance or any thing else and still smiled at us. How can anyone say anything against her? Sharon Osborne lost my respect over the thing she said about Susan.

I too was bullied relentlessly as a child! And also was slow at learning, I so relate to Ms. Boyle, we are like twins! It is wonderful to see her be successful pursuing her dreams. Go Ms. Boyle!

My brother was HORRIBLY abused by his teacher when he was 7 years old, she called him every name under the sun. Only when my mum discovered he needed GLASSES & had been straining to see the board the whole time was the issue resolved. He is a near genius -- but I would still like to smack the hell out of the teacher who plagued him.

I find it reprehensible that anyone would be worshipped for something they are born with and never had to really earn. If you think that will be a good life, you are fooling yourself.

Why don't you post a photo of yourself so we can all get a look at you? Bet you're no prize yourself. Usually, those who like to run other people down are just trying to divert attention from their own massive flaws. Just ask any psychiatrist

I remember reading about those things Sharon said about Susan. She really has a lot of room to talk considering her whole family wasn't beaten with an ugly stick, they fell from the ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down. Susan is awesome and has a beautiful voice. She's a caring person and that makes her beautiful on the inside and outside.

Sharon Osborne should be ashame of herself. She should take a lok at her own freaky kids. Shame on you Sharon O. !!!!!

I hate it when people find excuses for people who makes other people lives a living hell. Susan in all God's grace and glory He has given you a gift that the world loves, and for the people who has made your life a living hell they must be very sorry. I often tell people don't make fun of people who are different or you think that are different than you are for you never know what plans the Lord have for them. And listening to your voice you do have a beautiful voice that has touched so many people in the world. You are just lovely. God bless you and keep you, and keep singing for the world to hear, even the evil people who have caused you pain.

I was surprised and saddened by Sharon Osbourne's remarks about Susan Boyle, especially in light of the fact that Sharon's husband Ozzy was bullied and beaten daily by his schoolmates, neighborhood kids and teachers because he has dyslexia. It was because of this constant harassment that Ozzy sought solace in drugs and alcohol. It is also the reason why he is still a rather shy and humble person, who is still amazed that people actually accept and like him today, a far cry from his youth in Birmingham. Britons still have a lot to learn about acceptance of others who are different, especially those with disabilities, be they learning or physical.

jbjg24m: What an ugly thing to say about a beautiful human being both from the inside to the outside. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You can be beautiful or handsome but if you are vain and have an ugly personality like you do, then all is lost in accepting you as a human being. You, my friend, are truly ugly. God have mercy on your soul!!

I couldn't believe that anyone could say something as mean as Sharon Osbourne did about Susan Boyle. It's just the kind of thing that a bully would do to someone. It's a sad thing that she was treated like she was when she was a kid, but, to be treated the same way now and by an adult. Before Sharon Osbourne talks about someone like she did she should take a look at her ugly husband, her ugly son and her homely daughter. She's not exactly Megan Fox either.

Apparently....you don't !!!
But that's ok...I learned that people who feel as
you do don't like themselves.....!
You must really hate your own guts....I find that
funny...Ahahahahaha.....Whahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

I hope all SB's persecutors hang their heads in shame. I wonder how well you are all doing now? SB's new found wealth will enable her to buy the biggest stick of all, so all the rats out there had better go back to their sewers and stay there.

I swear I am brought to tears hearing her voice; it brings such joy! God blesses the world with another small miracle once again.
