Man Whose Son Accused Michael Jackson of Molestation Found Dead

Evan Chandler -- the father of Jordan Chandler, who accused Michael Jackson of molesting him -- was found dead early this month of a gunshot wound to the head, the New York Post reports.

The 65-year-old former dentist was discovered in his Jersey City apartment with a .38-caliber revolver in his hand, officials say. The building's concierge found the body. No note has been found, but police officials believe it's an open-shut case.

"He [Chandler] was on his bed still holding the weapon with a single gunshot wound to the head," Jersey City police spokesman Stan Eason told reporters. "It's straightforward. Case closed. It's suicide."

Eason said Chandler was gravely ill and scheduled to see a hermatologist on the day he died. When he didn't make his appointment, the doctor called the concierge to check on him.

"There was medication found in the apartment consistent with a serious illness," Eason said.

In the 1990s, Jordan Chandler and his parents received $20 million settlement from Jackson over the sexual abuse claims, although the late King of Pop was never charged with the crime.

Jordan and his father became estranged and Jordan even received a restraining order against Evan in 2006, after he allegedly hit his son with a dumbbell.

According to a family friend, Evan Chandler was depressed in the final days of his life. "Over the years, [Evan] began to develop tremendous mood swings. He was always depressed," the friend said.

Chandler was once a prominent Beverly Hills dentist, but his business and personal life collapsed due to the strain of his son's claims against Jackson. According to reports, he has undergone several plastic surgeries in order to disguise himself from angry Jackson fans.

Good for the no good father. Guilt got to him about all of the lying he and his son and family was caught doing. Michael was no pedophile. And with that wonderful heart of his, was broken still to his death from the pain and hurt it caused the icon. I'm a 52 year old woman from New York. Lived in Calif. Grew up watching, and seeing Michael every single time I could. His brothers were okay, but you can see to this day that they were nothing but leeches like their so called Father Joe Jackson. They were bleeding Michael to death with all of their demands for him to support all of them. Everyone included, Katherine, Janet, Reemie all his brothers and all of his close relatives.
Michael died in what was found out to be great shape. It's that damn Dr. that stepped away for 7 hours only to let Michael Die. I'm country western, but have every musical thing Michael put out. He was an icon. A miracle of a Man. So what, Like me, he had a little bit of a kid still inside him. Who wants to get old and die???????
He said he never wanted to be buried or in a casket. He wanted to be cremated and always said he wouldn't make it past 50 because of the dangerous people that put themselves around him.
Now I just hope that his children have enough of a memory to know what a great guy their Dad was. The children are smart, beautiful, wonderful and at least had a short time with their Dad. I am so sad that they didn't get to see his whole show of this is it. From someone that adored Michael,

I wonder why so many people still cling to the idea that Michael Jackson didn't molest children ? Is it because he was found not guilty ? Lets see, he had the best lawyer money could buy, he was so good he created that reasonable doubt which was all he needed to do. Then lets see the Chandlers received 20 million dollars because MJ was just feeling generous that day ? If he was innocent why wouldn't he have used that 20 million to defend himself against charges ?

The son admitted publicly two days after Jackson's death that the whole thing was a lie and he felt horrible about it for years. He said he father put he up to it for the money. To bad he didn't say it before Michael died.

Isn't funny how everyone claims Michael had the best lawyer. Most people that go to court try to get THE BEST lawyer. I really believe Michael was NOT GUILTY of all charges. If My daughtere or son was molested and the person offered me any amount of money I would refuse and take the case until the person was found guilty. Think about it... Can money buy back all a child went through? I will always be a Michael fan He was and still is a Superstar A great preformer A great Dad.

Unfortunately, the law doesn't always work that way. How many people get accused of things they didn't do? How many people's lives get ruined because of rogue prosecuters/lawyers, etc? Regardless of the way this justice system is supposed to work, that is not always the case.

Why would anyone think Michael Jackson did molest children?

There is no evidence that he did. Read Framed and the Michael Jackson Conspiracy.
He loved children and felt we should find the child in us. Read his Dancing the Dream.
He said we would rather slit his wrist than hurt a child. See his interviews on Youtube.

I do not believe Michael Jackson molested children. We know he shared his bed with children but witnesses say he was clothed. Remember he was from a family of 9 kids living in a 2 bedroom house. He probably frequently shared his bed with his siblings as a child and even later as they traveled around the world as the Jackson 5. Their airplane had a big king sized bed in it and I bet they all probably slept together to catch a wink before their next concert. Also, in Neverland, his bedroom was more like a video game room and toy room. He and his child friends would goof around playing video games and watching movies and then just crash.

The ones who think he molested children are looking for a dark side. When I watch his interviews, read his poetry, listen to his songs, and watch him dance I see a beautiful, sensitive, gifted, loving person who offered the world so incredibly much for so many years. I don't see a child molester.

Ever since MJ's murder the media has wanted to talk to anyone who breathed the same air, so why don't they hunt down Jordon and ask him all the hard questions?

Sure he was depressed, anyone who did what he did and started this whole molestation fiasco...remember this was 1993.. he was feeling well deserved GUILT that he lied and cause the beginning of the end for Michael, and giving someone else the idea of get rich quick.

And lastly it just seems that can't separate themselves from the musical genius and the humanbeing that MJ was. He was the performer, and he was a sick man who liked little boys. I am able to separate the two things and I loved his music, but had no respect for him as a man. He was a abuser of young children, guised to look generous. He surrounded himself with these young boys for a reason don't you think ? MJ is as innocent as OJ and Robert Blake are. He did but got away with it because money bought them the best defense. All were guilty, but it doesn't take away from the talents they may have possessed. JMO

The truth is that you nor anyone else besides Michael, his Accusers and the Father know the truth. You nor anyone else has any right to judge. Michael and Mr. Chandler are with the Father now, the only rightful judge. If it is true that we all answer in the end for our actions and our choices, then all involved will have their day in court. What special information did you have that the district attorney and judge failed to use to convict Michael? I assume Bernie Maddoff has a lot of money too....and still managed to go to jail. The young man recanted the story and said that his father forced him to lie on Michael....but even that is not enough for you to exonerate an innocent man. Michael was interviewed by a well known psychiatrist that was hired by the father of the same boy in question....and their own psychiatrist said that Michael has no tendencies as a child molester and that he did NOT fit the profile...but he added that Michael did have the mind of a ten year old. So, Barbie...in light of this information...you still want to call him guilty? Is it to make yourself feel justified in all the names you probably aimed at an innocent man that was eccentric at best?

We don't cling to any such an idea..do some research into the subject before you assume...the child LIED, and he admitted it. MJ paid the money on the advice of his legal counsel so he wouldn't be humiliated in court. And it paved the way for others to take advantage. If you knew ANYTHING about the postive impact MJ had on thousands of children that visited Neverland, you'd know he'd never harm a child...all those children passed through those gates and he only molested two?

Rhonda you and I think a lot alike, its amazing how many people prefer to believe the garbage and lies then the truth. Really sad and pathetic.

I study law and a lot of people always state that they would never cop a plea if they were innocent...and usually it is someone who have not a clue about the vigorous toll of the judicial system that can in fact lead an innocent person to not only pay to conclude a case....but on occasion even take a guilty plea (when innocent) due to the higher risk involved. In fact ....there are innocent people in jail as we speak and was released due to their DNA that looked guilty at the time. It is true. And sometimes people will take the road of least resistance when they want to get this thing behind them. Remember Martha Stewart...she went against the advice of her attorney BECAUSE she thought it would be in HER best interest to just do six months and move on with her life. She could have fought it to the end and bargain with her life...perhaps been found innocent or guilty...but she made a precise decision to fight it....it happens...and for those who don't thinks so....probably never ever been in criminal court before and don't have a clue how this can tie up a life for years.
