Gerard Butler Imitates Michael Jackson, Dangles Fake "Baby" Outside Window

Gerard Butler playfully imitated a famous Michael Jackson moment at his London hotel on Wednesday. Butler wrapped a potted plant with a towel and dangled it outside his window -- the same way the King of Pop dangled his newborn son Blanket. Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right?
The 40-year-old actor had a big smile on his face and looked to be cracking himself up.
On Tuesday, Butler celebrated the release of his new movie 'Law Abiding Citizen' at London's Soho Hotel. In the film, he stars alongside Jamie Foxx.
He is also known for his portrayal of King Leonidas in '300,' The Phantom in the 2004 film version of 'The Phantom of the Opera,' Gerry Kennedy in 'P.S. I Love You' and Mike Chadway in 'The Ugly Truth.'

I dont't see anything wrong with his joke. If MJ was alive it wouldn't matter at all. The world doesn't stop becasue someone dies. If MJ wouldn't have dangled his baby out of the window in the first place there would be nothing to mock. So people think it's OK to still buy his music and praise him but not Ok to think and refelct on the many poor descions he made.

Ditto - no more of me helping G. Butler with his paycheck or movie ratings. It's not so much that MJ is dead, but that this is in poor taste and unacceptable to me. I don't think it's ever acceptable to gain a laugh at the expense of others. It seems sensitivity and etiquette training is in order for GB.
Maybe Gerard is drunk. That or he knows nothing about Mj's fanbase. LoL he will be hated for a long time for this. :)

I don't think this is funny at all. It is disrespectful. Michael is gone and it is true he can not be offended, but what about his family, his kids (one day), and his fans. It offends us! This was something Michael did and he wasn't in the best shape at this time in his life. Why make fun of a man that was down already? I didn't think it was funny when he was alive and now that he is gone makes it even more sick. Do you like kicking people when they are down? As for telling people to "lighten up" I say to you get some respect, if not for Michael Jackson, then for his kids and family. I don't care if you like Michael Jackson or not why would you do that to people who cared about him? Gerard Butler is a D-BAG for doing this

RBJ Sweetie you may want to try to pick a fight with someone else because you won't get one from me. I am a MJ fan, but I do believe everyone is entitled to their opinion even if I don't agree with their opinion. This story, however, is disgusting because it is hurtful to people who cared for him. I don't care if it was Billy Joe down the road or any other celebrity this is wrong. This hurts his family, his kids, and his friends.
Gerald has definately lost my respect. Me and my girlfriend literally threw all of his movies we had in the trash.. Michael made a mistake, letting excitement overpower his judgment over his new born at the time and he acknowledge that, but you do not kick a man down after his death by dangling a fake imitation of the child that is still alive who lost his father. It wasn't only disrespectful of Michael, it was also disrepectful to his son and the rest of the family. How would he like it or anyone else like it if anyone else imitated a mistake that his or anyone's lost loved one has done. My father passed away 2 years ago this Thanksgiving and he made some mistakes and if anyone ever imitated my father in a disrespectful way, you can bet your a** i'll be out for blood.

Look at the picture. The caption says that Gerard held the pot plant the same way Michael held the baby. I saw Gerard holding the object by the head if it were a child. Not the same. Michael had his right arm across the baby's chest. He was excited about his newborn. His baby, his choice. Everyone else get over it. The person that said he was a freak, I'm sure you would know, you probably have freaks in your family. You get over it. Everyone has skeltons in the closet. Why don't you broadcast yours. Not so, right?
