Scores of Joss Whedon fans were disappointed to hear that his latest show, 'Dollhouse' has been canceled by Fox. We'll get to see the remaining episodes, and they had the news in time to wrap up the story, but that's cold comfort for most of us. We caught up with star Eliza Dushku on the red carpet for the US Weekly Hot Hollywood event, where she was being honored as "Cult Fave of the Year". While she dashed our hopes of 'Dollhouse' continuing in comic book form, she said she'd like to be part of the upcoming 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog' sequel, and that her Robert Mapplethorpe biopic (which she has been working on for eight years) is finally getting made.Eliza Dushku Doesn't Expect To Ever Play In 'Dollhouse' Again

Horrible's Sing-along Blog' sequel, and that her Robert Mapplethorpe biopic (which she has been working on for eight years) is finally getting made.So I'm one of the 'Dollhouse' fans who are really upset about the cancelation announcement. Is there any chance at all that you guys would consider moving it to another network?
"I don't know. I mean, I'm going to say I don't think so. I feel like we're probably going to wrap it up for people at the end of this second season. We had time to sort of see where we wanted to close things off, but...I think this is going to be it. We're really proud of it. And I feel like two seasons to live on is better than the one would have been. And we're grateful for that, that we got to come back and play some more and bring some more to the fans."
I had asked you a year or so ago if you'd want to do the 'Dr. Horrible' sequel when Joss Whedon does that. And you said yes. Is that still something you'd be interested in?
"Absolutely! If Joss calls me after this. [laughs] But no, really I would love to, and Jed (Whedon) and Maurissa (Tancharoen) are so talented and so much fun. And if we all... if it comes about, I would love to audition. [laughs]"
So will Echo (Dushku's character on 'Dollhouse') be living on in comic form like Faith (her character in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer') is?
"I don't know. I think I heard Joss once say that he didn't think 'Dollhouse' would sort of go into the comic world successfully, but you never know."
And what do you have coming up next?
"We're working on this Robert Mapplethorpe biopic that I'm producing with my brother and some other really phenomenal people, film makers. It's really moving along. And then we have some other Boston Diva productions that will be announced in 2010."

*Scores* of fans? So are you taking a dig at Dollhouse and Eliza? Ignoring the *millions* of fans that did actually watch the show? Or are you just too ignorant to know how many is in a score?

Screw Fox. All the good shows get canceled, and crap stays on. Get rid of some of the "reality" shows.

Refusal to carry great, inovative shows like Dollhouse, is the reason network TV is losing viewers to cable.

Personally, I'm not surprised it was canceled. First off, FOX had it in a crappy time slot on a night when most of the target audience is out. Secondly, there was hardly any promotion or advertising to make people aware of the show's existence. Finally, nowadays people are all about instant gratification. They would rather watch some dumb, trashy reality series, which requires little to no brain power to watch. They can't appreciate an intelligent show with an intricate plot! It's like Firefly all over again! Joss Whedon is just to creative for the ignorant general public!

Did not like this show. Saw most of the first season, but got bored real fast. Just wasn't up to what I expect from Whedon.
Probably the lack of Group Dynamics... That's where Joss shines. Having a group of different personalities banter together. Dollhouse didn't have any of that. They just had people pair off in twos. Heck, the main character didn't even have a personality! Add in the fact that the dollhouse was nothing more than a high tech brothel with mindwiped prostitutes... and I found it a horrid premise.
Honestly I was surprised they picked it up for a second season. Firefly was so much more fun, and that got screwed over from the beginning.

Loved the show. Wont miss it as much as "FIREFLY" but will miss it. Joss is a wonderfully creative person. No wonder so many didn't get it. It was way too deep for most.

This is crazy. I love this show and it should not be cancelled. It's ridiculous how all the crap reality shows stay on for so long and shows like Dollhouse and Tru Calling get cancelled. I guess the moral of the story is to stop watching Fox since they cancel any show that people like

I only saw the show a few times, thought it was well done, but not my cup of tea. I am an Eliza Dushku fan. Many actors and actresses act pretty negative when their show is cancelled. She had to be disappointed, but in this interview she is very positve and shows class! Good for her!

I loved Firefly too...as well as Serenity. I was so disappointed the show ended (although I didn't get into it until right at the end)...and now it seems there will be no sequel to Serenity. As not a huge TV fan, or really even Sci-Fi even, I was even more disappointed. The producers, etc. made a BIG mistake cancelling and not doing a sequel/cancelling the show!!!
