Jon Gosselin Brings Roses to Successful Divorce Meeting

Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin could be about a month away from finalizing their divorce, after a successful day at the arbitration table in Pennsylvania on Saturday. According to TMZ, Jon won't fight Kate for primary custody of their eight kids and neither party is seeking spousal support. The two main issues still on the table are distribution of assets and child support.

The day began as many reality dating shows typically end: with roses. Jon showed up at court with a bouquet of long-stemmed red's for Kate -- a peace offering of sorts. However, she turned them down. His lawyer had a pop culture reference in hand when discussing the flowers.

"This has been called the real-life War of the Roses," Mark Heller told PEOPLE, referring to the 1989 movie about battling spouses, "and he brought that as a peace offering to break the ice and try to bring the war to an end."

The meeting between the 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' alums was so productive that a second day of talks, scheduled for Monday, has been canceled. The arbitrator is expected to rule in a month and Heller says "it's possible" the bruising divorce will be finalized by the end of the year.

More colorful talk from Heller: "Obviously before two warring parties can smoke the peace pipe, they have to sit down at a table and address the issues that brought them to the skirmish."

Kate didn't go out bar hopping and sleeping with everything or it he saw!! He just brought those roses so he can somehow make hisself look good!!

Did anyone notice the roses--they were in horrible condition, and wrapped in plastic wrap?! Jon had already notified the paps--anything to get his ugly mug in front of a camera--he's such a "lame fish" lol!

It's difficult enough if there is interfering in-laws, etc. in a marriage; but to have the TV camera's following everything you do has got to be a no-win situation. This family didn't stand a chance. The transparency and money has changed or perhaps accelerated their faults to the point where there was no way of going back and fixing things. Kate was often too curt to Jon while in "mom" mode, and Jon was likely bored with "nesting" instead of going to work. I hope they re-evaluate themselves or they will never find happiness.

Seems everyone is forgetting how Kate treated Jon and the kids. I can't forget how she pulled one of the little girls hair, Kate was hurting her so much the girl was crying. Kate just said if she didn't want it long she wouldn't be pulling. Kate was always putting Jon down and hitting him. Someone wrote that Kate got an apartment out of state near her security guard. Why did she need a guard to travel with her instead of Jon. Did you see how Jon looked when he had to sit on the passenger side of the car, while the guard drove them.

Kate thinks she is a princess.

It's funny you think Kate treated Jon like a child, well that's because he acted like one. He would stand there and do nothing while Kate was trying to get the kids dressed, bags packed, snacks made, she would ask him to do something and he would stagger around the house like DUUUUUUUH. And as far as his smoking goes, have you seen the gut he's put on, smoking goes along with heavy drinking,and believe me it looks like he's drank a whole keg. He's a touch, I feel sorry for his kids, but as for Kate I'm sure she is happier now that he is gone, now at least she only has eight kids to take care of. JON GET A JOB, STOP KISSING THE PAPARAZZI'S ASS, PEOPLE DON'T CARE, THEY CARE ABOUT YOUR KIDS NOT YOU. STOP BEING A KID AND SUPPORT YOUR KIDS. Good for Kate for not taking the flowers, if she took them she'd have to look at them and it would be a constant reminder of his infidelities. And to all of you that say that Kate goes on shows and belittles Jon. Remember Jon saying that he hated Kate and dispised her? She's never really said anything disparaging Jon. He's done a good job of that himself.

Jon only brought them as a publicity stunt. He has shown his true colors by romping with half naked women younger women. His divorce is not final, hence he is still a married man and should conduct himself as such until the ink is dry on the divorce papers. I know this would require some self control...but he is a big boy and should be able to control himself for a short period of time.

I am so very sorry for both of them and mostly for the children. When I see them it makes me want to cry because it is all about the children. Both Kate and John have been wrong but I think mostly Kate because she was really mean to John in front of the children and that was the first mistake. Now John is the bad guy because of all his girl friends. Both need to grow up and accept their responsibilities.

He just wanted to enjoy his new found popularity and hair plugs. I've been a jon and kate fan since the very first special on tv and I will continue to be a fan!

I agree that Kate treated Jon like crap. He let her - there is a point my husband would have put his foot down and firm. We all should know that point. But he is going though a mid-life crisis's just look at him flirthing and in T-shirts. He does have that innocent look in his eyes but the rest of him tell's me to "RUN" as far away as I can
