Michael Jackson set a record at the American Music Awards at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater Sunday night with his second win of the evening. The late singer scooped up Favorite Male Artist in the Pop/Rock category, which brings his total number of AMAs to 23, the most by any single artist.The late singer was up against Eminem and T.I. in the category.
Melissa Etheridge presented the award and Jackson's brother Jermaine accepted the award for the second time in the evening, spending longer on the stage this time to thank his family and his brother's fans.
Jackson's first win of the evening was for Favorite Male Artist in the Soul/R&B category, where he beat out Maxwell and Jamie Foxx. The award was presented by Disney TV star and singer Selena Gomez and Orianthi, the guitarist from Jackson's concert documentary 'This Is It' and a pop singer in her own right.
Jackson is up for a total of five AMAs this year. The three remaining nominations are for Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Album for 'Number Ones,' and Favorite Soul/R&B Album, also for 'Number Ones.'

Good grief! The guy hasn't done anything for years and years and here he won an award for doing nothing?! I love Jackson but this was a "feel guilty" award if I ever saw one! He hasn't produced an album in years people. He hadn't even recored anything prior to this award in the past year! Hello!

How many new albums have Stone's released, haven't seen too much for Springstein, Paul McCartney, Led Zepplin, etc...they don't have to, their music is legendary and their old stuff just as good then as it is today. Same with Michael Jackson. He's a music ICON, that's undeniable and loved all over this entire planet. So, those are the facts!
Michael Jackson didn't put his name on the ballot, duh..america did, they voted for him and he won. He deserves it, he changed the fabric of music, was a creative genius. If you don't agree, you're entitled to your opinion, but you're the minority.
Michael Jackson won because the people voted for him, plain and simple. If you disagree, you had ever opportunity to vote too.

How does anyone win an award for favorite pop/rock album (Number Ones) when said album was released in 2003? It seems to me the AMA's were only using all the hype surrounding Jacksons death to attract more viewers. Michael Jackson was an amazing performer, but I wonder why this honor was't given to him in the same year the album was released. This 'win' seems ludicrous to me.
