On Opening Day, Edward Kicks Batman's Box Office Butt

'New Moon' box office exploded on Friday, as the second installment of the 'Twilight' saga opened up with the biggest Friday take in Hollywood history.

'New Moon' raked in an estimated, whopping $72.7 million Friday, beating previous record holder 'The Dark Knight' which opened in 2008 with $67.2 million on nearly 800 more screens, according to Box Office Mojo.

The $72 million basically doubled the gross of 'Twilight,' which took in $36 million last year on opening day.

I don't know nowadays, those trash movie, people like it...but the good ones, they don't like it. damn, what happening to the people today? geez!

i don't think this movie really a good movie...i rather watch Batman than this one...not gonna spend money first to the stars that nothing to prove yet...new ones that couldn't act...golly!

This movie gives honor to the integrity of the book. The entire series takes a high moral ground and the author, Ms. Meyer, should be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for ethics. Her character, Edward, manifests all of the highest ethics and morals of the majority of American parents and teens and these avid readers and intellectuals are going wild with joy! Kristen Stewart is an outstanding actress, going deeper than most actors will ever reach. She brings in believability, grace, depth, and pure talent while maintaining her role as a good, average teenager. Her personal life and attitude cannot take away from the fact that she is ONE AMAZING actress.

Great review ! You looked past the surface ! Good for you. I saw the previews and I said "Vampires have been done a 1000 times. This movie is going to be a dud. Boy was I wrong. I'm not saying it's a great movie, but it is certainly touched 80% of the 15 - 25 year old girls...
