Lambert's 'GMA' Gig Nixed After Racy AMA Performance
By PopEater Staff Posted Nov 24th 2009 11:32AM
Adam Lambert shocked the world with his racy, pelvis-thrusting performance at the American Music Awards this weekend, and aside from just overall furor and upset viewers, it's now affecting his promotional schedule. A performance on 'Good Morning America' -- which runs on ABC, the same station that aired the AMAs -- has been called off for the former 'American Idol' star, as a result of the uproar he's facing this week.

ABC now claims they were "concerned" that Lambert's sex-heavy number isn't appropriate "so early in the morning."
Lambert's ultra-risque performance drew the ire of many viewers, as ABC announced yesterday they received thousands of complaints following the number. On the West Coast, Lambert's performance was censored because it was so explicit.
Responding to the 'GMA' cancellation, Lambert told Ryan Seacrest "I respect their decision - they gotta do what they gotta do ... It's too bad - I think there were a lot of fans whowere excited to come see me," adding that ABC "probably had a lot of pressure coming at them from certain people who weren't happy about it."
During his performance of his song 'For Your Entertainment,' Lambert -- complete with bondage-styled dancers and band members -- made many squirm thanks to dancers on leashes, and thrusting the face of a male dancer into his crotch several times. He later went on to passionately kiss his keyboardist for several seconds, and gave the crowd/camera the finger in the closing moments.
Lambert, who is openly gay, responded to the controversy, telling Access Hollywood that he's "not an artist that does things for every single person," likening the censoring of his performance to "discrimination."
"If it's edited, that's discrimination. I will be a little disappointed because there is a little bit of discrimination going in this country. There's a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I'm a male, and I'll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem," he said.

Thank you GMA finally a show with some class. What ticks me is this guy has the gall to say that young children should not be watching. Why should young children be denied the other good entertainers because this one idiot wants to act stupid.
Reply
young children shouldn't be up at 11pm...his performance was last of the night for that purpose alone when more adult viewing can be shown (which is 9PM and later).
Kids shouldn't have been up at 11:00PM on a school night and Adam was the last performance so I doubt kids didn't see it. Down With Prudes Of America.
It's not a matter of children being up so late and watching the AMA. It's about people knowing and thinking that this was a decent viewing channel and not having to make the children leave the room for this show. We'll know next year though won't we. This show should be broadcast on MTV where people know to expect this kind of behavior. We need to have some channels left for family viewing without having to worry about such "displays" as this.
I was waiting for the news. I saw the performance. I was offended. I want to watch stuff like that, I'll turn to a more private cable channel - not regular broadcasting. Child or not. Late night or not, it doesn't matter. Want to perform? Do it with taste. Even those who pushed the envelope are not talked about as much anymore. He has gotten what he set out to get - publicity. Ok, you've got. Now, with your one-hit wonder, we'll read about him in a year how his record tanked and he's doing broadway.
AND - forget color, gender or sexual orientation. A real artist knows taste, class and performs with style.
Couldn't be worse when Madonna was playing "tonsil hockey" with a female.

it IS worse. and Madonna wasn't giving head to Brittany. When Adam , if ever now, has a career, then maybe he'll be able to take some liberties to express his perversness to the world. Loved him on AI and will never be able to listen to him without picturing a guy giving him head. THIS REALLY BLEW IT FOR ME.
Yeah...it`s cool to have a good voice. But, The song is NOT good. Doesn`t matter what he wears, who he kisses, whoes head he grabs..the problem is... It is a lousy song. I like Lady Gaga who is wild in clothes and content. Unlike Lambert she can write a song.

I was a huge Adam Lambert fan and I feel very open minded but the fact is even if you take out all of the antics on stage at the AMA's his song sucked. It was not good and will not be a hit. If he had a good song he wouldn't have needed all that other stuff. Madonna and Brittany also do silly stuff like that to distract from their lack of real talent to sing. Adam has a good voice but too bad he didn't show it at the AMA's.
NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THAT LAME ANYWAY.ADAM AND EVE NOT ADAM AND STEVE.

I thought the AMA's would be about real MUSIC and real TALENT...Obviously not and a big disappointment. What a shame.

Sorry but cramming someones head into your crotch is not talented. But since he has no real talent he went for shock value instead!

And this is why 95% of America are blatant idiots and homophobes. No one would be getting this upset over it if it was a female he did that to. Way to discriminate, America. Adam Lambert is very brave, and I'll continue to be a fan. If you seriously decided not to be a fan after this performance, you are truly an idiot and shouldn't have been a fan in the first place. He doesn't need ignorant fans such as the people who did that buying his records. It really sucks that his performance on Good Morning America was cancelled; they really think he's going to do that everytime he performs from now on? Idiots.

Excuse me?Who's the idiot.NOBODY not even a female should be allowed to do this on national television.YOU ARE THE IDIOT!It is because of people like you that ruining the moral fabric of our society.I have friends who are gay and they're tired of Mostly heterosexual women making there case for them. Most homosexuals don't want people to know what they do behind closed doors. It's funny you don't want anybody to say there opinions but you want to cram yours down everyones throat.
Uh--he DID do things to a female also during the performance...This has nothing to do with being gay or not...The entire performance was NOT appropriate for prime time ABC TV...This wasn't cable and yes kids love American Idol and wanted to see one of their favorite performers sing at the AMAs..That definitely was not singing...Just trying to shock the world is what it was...so disappointed from such a huge former supporter.
i have not posted an opinion about this event julie, so where do i fit? am i in the 95% that are idiots and homophobic? i suppose you place yourself in the five percent who must be smart and elite.
and, for those gay folks who are struggling to find acceptance and monogomous relationships, adam lambert simply perpetuates the myth that gays are promiscuous and eccentric.
i'll thank you not to infer that 95% (large number) of americans are idiots just because they don't agree with you. when you do that, it makes you look like, well, an idiot.
Julie, You claim that he's not going to be doing that every time he performs...how do you know that? I never was a huge fan of Adam Lambert (too much screaming in his songs). However, when he sang, people listened cause he was just that good! However, why do both you and he claim that if you didn't like him, it must be discrimination because he's gay. Well, I didn't think the episode with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson belonged on TV either, so you can't claim discrimination against me. I just prefer listening and watching performers who make something of themselves because of their talent, not because they have to sell their songs with sex.
There's porn and then there's porn. It doesn't matter if it's a guy doing that to a woman or the other way around, it's still trash, porn, and NOT talent. We want to see talent, not porn.
I was never a fan of that disgusting homosexual. In fact Im not a fan of any blatant homsexual and giving my opinion doesn't make me a homophobe.I refuse to sugar coat the word for a queer with a term that means happy. The whole show was a joke as are you for calling us idiots because we disagree with your opinion.
Julie...you're just a pure unadulterated imbecile
