John Mayer: 'I'm Not Exactly Bob Dylan'

John Mayer opens up to Details about his music and why people hate him.

The singer-songwriter and guitarist -- who has famously dated many of Hollywood's most beautiful women including Jennifer Aniston, Heidi Klum, Minka Kelly and more -- defends making pop music.

"I don't know if you know, but I'm not exactly Bob Dylan -- I'm already a pop musician...I want to reach as many people as possible...I don't mind compromising," he says. Read More Inside

He doesn't worry about the haters: "What if I had a booth on the street and I said, 'Attention everybody who hates me: If you have a problem with me, I'm ready to hear your gripes! I will be outside the Barneys store on 60th Street from two to four this afternoon...I will only be speaking to people who do not like me. Come out and let me have it.' How many people do you think would be standing there?...Ze-ro."

LOL - NO KIDDING, JOHN! "Not Bob Dylan?" you aren't even Bob Feltersnatch, the guy who plays at our local bar every other Friday with a kazoo and a wet armpit for percussion. You ought to be slapped just for even mentioning Bob Dylan in the same sentence as you. Your music has the creativity of a Sunday morning bowel movement. No offense.

Dylan is over rated as a musician.. He grew up in a time where his words were very powerful but as a musician he is very limited and his voice is terrible..Mayer on the other hand can play and his voice is pleasant enough.. He also has some very good lyrics.. Alot of people thnk Dylan is some kind of God just because they went thru the same bad times and changes in America with him.....

John Mayer, for all of his silly interactions with paparazzi, etc. is STILL an excellent musician, and anyone who knows anything about music would realize that. I'm from the Bob Dylan era, and although I think he's next to God, I'm still not taking anything away from the talent of John Mayer, which he has in abundance. Listen to all of his music. He's not just a pop star; he's a true musician.
