BOTH of these parents are fame whores and have done all they could to turn these children into the same. I feel for the kids and NOT the parents. These kids are really going to grow up really screwed up in the heads...

I AM SOOOOO GLAD IT'S OVER. IT STARTED OUT AS A NICE SHOW WITH AN UNUSUALLY LARGE FAMILY. I AM SICK OF THE PARENT DRAMA. THOSE CHILDREN DESERVE BETTER. CYS SHOULD STEP AND MONITOR THEM. THE PARENTS NEED PARENTING CLASSES.

I totally agree with your take on this. My gf and I have had a few disagreements over the whole thing, and I think she is more concerned over the money and the fame than her own children. "It's needless" - give me a break! On the other hand, he shouldn't have run around on her while he was still married, even though she treated him like dirt. He should have tried to work it out, or stand up for himself, and if all else failed THEN get a divorce, prior to stepping out with the ladies.

This show was soooo slanted in favor of "I can't be out of the spotlight" Kate that TLC should be boycotted. I was one of the ones who watched the show from the beginning, and I used to say that those babies were lucky to have the cameras around to keep Kate's wrath in line. Those poor children with a mother like her!

I was once married to a man who never took responsibility which forced me to wear the pants in the family. I really resented having to play the role as head of the family but when a man won't...you either take charge or sink. I have often wondered it Jon could have supported his family without the show. It will be interesting to see how his children will be provided for after the divorce. He just may not have enough money for play time anymore.

As an actor I have heard many a stage mother say the same thing. "The kids want to do this". And my response is kids want to drive cars and drink, and eat whatever they like. Do you just give in to this because they are making money and fame? She is a typical stage mother who can't even fathom the long road ahead of some of her kids. It's pitiful.

I totally agree that Kate was a very shallow, demanding person. I have never thought that the exposure on the series was good for those children and now to hear her whining that "the kids miss it already," tells me that she doesn't care about their welfare, only her own.

I'm surprised that anyone can jump to a conclusion that either Kate or Jon are money-grubbing whores.

The truth remains that this show has not only been a part of their lives for the two years (or however long) it's been airing, but, quite frankly, it's been their livelihoods. Kate and Jon are not just threatened with their marriage ending, with their fame dissipating - they are faced with a problem on a much larger scale. They have to eat. They have to eat, and feed that brood.

And, I'm sure that the kids do miss it. Those people are people that they've grown accustomed to, have developed some sort of relationship with, and, if you all will recall, it's pretty much the only life they've ever known - at least as long as they can remember. Change is frightening for the children, as well. It doesn't matter if the change is for the better or worse. Change is terrifying - period!

And, as for Kate as a mother. It's hilarity that any of you should judge. If your life were under a microscope, social services would take your children from you. All of us, when looked at through a magnifying glass, are horrible parents. We should never be allowed to spawn! But, we do. And, we all manage to survive our dysfunctional families somehow.

As for Kate and Jon as people - they're not trashy. They're normal. They're you. They're your neighbors. They are all of us on our very worst day, in our very worst month, struggling through our very worst year.

While all of you are sitting your fat butts on your couches judging their lives, I'm wondering what's wrong in your life that you ought to be fixing.

Heal thyself!

Uh, the only reason Kate CAN play the hurt wife is because Jon turned her into one. He's the douche that paraded his child girlfriend around for everyone - including his own children - to see.

Also, not that I'm condoning all of Kate's behavior (because she did treat him badly at times), but if SHE'S shallow, then what do you call the guy who's more interested in the press than his own children? At least Kate was a parent to her kids! Jon is clearly only interested in what works best for HIM at any given moment and he talks out of both sides of his mouth.

I hope they send kate back to the trailer park.
