'Idol' Finalists Defend Adam Lambert's Controversial AMA Performance
By PopEater Staff Posted Nov 25th 2009 07:45AM
Former 'American Idol' contestants Blake Lewis and Anoop Desai are coming to Adam Lambert's defense after his controversial AMA performance, which subsequently got him booted from ABC's 'Good Morning America.' Season 6 runner-up Lewis tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, "Adam Lambert isn't too controversial. 'Good Morning America' could have had an amazing interview with a talented, humble entertainer and shot him down. Their loss."

Desai, a Season 8 finalist, is taking sides with Team Lambert. "Adam is going to be huge, there's no doubt about that. And his fans will keep him on top, not GMA," he said during a live chat on 'American Idol Now' (via Hollywood Life.)
Desai continued to talk about Lambert's performance. "It's not for everyone," he acknowledges, "But Adam knows exactly who he is and what he's trying to do. I think the performance was successful. I mean, we're talking about it today, aren't we? He's there "for your entertainment"; that was the point of the performance and it was definitely entertaining."
Lambert shocked the world with his racy, pelvis-thrusting performance at the American Music Awards this weekend, and aside from just overall furor and upset viewers, it's now affecting his promotional schedule. A performance on 'Good Morning America' -- which runs on ABC, the same station that aired the AMAs -- has been called off for the former 'American Idol' star, as a result of the uproar he's facing this week.
ABC now claims they were "concerned" that Lambert's sex-heavy number isn't appropriate "so early in the morning."

Obviously, you aren't an AI fan. Blake Lewis was really entertaining with his beat-boxing, and Anoop was more of a crooner - BOTH very talented guys. The fact that you are looking at a pic and calling them losers is sad.
By the way - I did not like Lambert's performance at AMA, but he really is a talented singer with a wonderful vocal range. Don't know if I can buy into all the theatrics, though!

Dan......I wouldn't mind hearing YOUR IDEA of what a loser is!! These guys made it on American Idol!! I doubt very much you could say that you've had that kind of success in your life!! As for Adam Lambert, it is, Good Morning America's LOSS, that they cancelled his visit!! Adam's going to be really BIG!! He has a voice of SOLID GOLD, and he's extremely easy on the eyes too!! I think there's just ALOT of people that cut him down due to the fact they're JEALOUS!! Either that, or their hearts are just full of hate and resentment to begin with!! Could you be one of these??

You have a beautiful voice, Adam. If there's anyone out there who has not yet purchased his new album, you are really missing some GREAT MUSIC! My son & grandson are also enjoying your sounds.

ADAM LAMBERT IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE, HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING. EVERYONE IS TRYING TO SAY MICHAEL JACKSON, JANET JACKSON , AND EVEN MARIAH CAREY GO OVER THE EDGE BUT WHAT HE DID WAS A DISGRACE, HE DID IT ON NATIONAL TV, IF HE DID IT AT HIS CONCERT THAT YOU PAY FOR THEN I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT. I ONLY HOPE THIS WILL RUIN ANY CAREER THAT HE MIGHT HAVE.

Listening to these guys reminds me of why I don't listen to Idol in the first place.

Wouldn't it be nice if avoiding exposure to American Idol finalists and judges were as simple as not tuning in to American Idol?

Absolutely Vickie! These are not "idols." There is NOTHING to idolize about any of the 3 mentioned in this article. Idol sucks! I don't watch it either and never have! It should be renamed "American Freaks."

Are you suggesting that I even give a second thougt to what these former Idol people have to say? Surely, you are not serious.

I'm supposed to take advice from a gang of gay finalists on a show that only giddy freak deviants watch? President Obama could perform on the Idol show I wouldn't even know it, nor would I take his advice.

Yeah, well, I thought all of the parents wanted their kids to be exposed to their 80's culture and music and isn't that what these kids and the younger generations are now doing TO DEATH? The 80's were full of the fashion, shock and simulated sex. The performance has gotten the 80's (too decades too late of course) written all over it. Who's sorry now.
