'Idol' Finalists Defend Adam Lambert's Controversial AMA Performance
By PopEater Staff Posted Nov 25th 2009 07:45AM
Former 'American Idol' contestants Blake Lewis and Anoop Desai are coming to Adam Lambert's defense after his controversial AMA performance, which subsequently got him booted from ABC's 'Good Morning America.' Season 6 runner-up Lewis tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, "Adam Lambert isn't too controversial. 'Good Morning America' could have had an amazing interview with a talented, humble entertainer and shot him down. Their loss."

Desai, a Season 8 finalist, is taking sides with Team Lambert. "Adam is going to be huge, there's no doubt about that. And his fans will keep him on top, not GMA," he said during a live chat on 'American Idol Now' (via Hollywood Life.)
Desai continued to talk about Lambert's performance. "It's not for everyone," he acknowledges, "But Adam knows exactly who he is and what he's trying to do. I think the performance was successful. I mean, we're talking about it today, aren't we? He's there "for your entertainment"; that was the point of the performance and it was definitely entertaining."
Lambert shocked the world with his racy, pelvis-thrusting performance at the American Music Awards this weekend, and aside from just overall furor and upset viewers, it's now affecting his promotional schedule. A performance on 'Good Morning America' -- which runs on ABC, the same station that aired the AMAs -- has been called off for the former 'American Idol' star, as a result of the uproar he's facing this week.
ABC now claims they were "concerned" that Lambert's sex-heavy number isn't appropriate "so early in the morning."

I hope Adam's early voice training will protect his vocal chords for the long term. The fact that he's gay would not keep me from buying his music, but the screaming Adam would. So be it; it's his voice to protect or abuse. With regard to GMA's canceling of his appearance, and CBS picking him up...well, he did state on the latter interview, that he got caught up in the moment, and that his performance (that morning) would be more appropriate, and he added "I promise." So with some extra thought, he did change directions (at least temporarily! Shocking content might work better on MTV and VH1. How he goes forward is his choice.

Correct me if I am wrong . . . but didn't Lady Gaga perform at the AMA with what looked to be an erect penus attached to the front of her outfit? Why is no one is having a hissy fit about that. Adam's performance was no worse than many of the others on the AMA have been thru the past years. It was Adam doing what he does best, singing and shocking. So give him a break

Probably none of you remember the frenzy Elvis caused by gyrating his hips back in 1956. He was even banned from performing in some Southern towns and The Ed Sullivan Show only showed him from the waist up. Did it corrupt our youth? No, and neither will Adam Lambert. I agree that there is a double standard. No one would have objected if it had been Britney Spears. Shame on all of you.

Adam Lambert didn't do anything that hadn't already been done by Madonna or Britney. Because he's a gay guy, he gets more flak for it. Granted his act isn't for everyone, including me, but I say live and let live!

Adam is a good looking guy ( too bad he's gay) and no matter what anyone else thinks, the guy CAN sing! His performance was a bit over the top for me though. I'm not so sure what the big uproar is as I never heard anything said about Michael Jackson's constant crotch grabbing moves. I wasn't crazy about his performances either, but again, Michael could sing.

Sorry GMA, you missed having a talented fellow on your show. By the way, did you notice what Rhiana had on when you had her on recently?? A low-cut top and a tuxedo jacket.. Nothing on her legs.. Was that appropriate for morning viewers???

Oh- well, now that Blake and Anoop have weighed in- grinding your pelvis into another guy's face on prime time TV seems perfectly fine. What's next, pervs? I shudder to think. (Blake, Kate called. She wants her hair-do back.)

well I can't say I didn't like the voice but I can say I was glad my boys didn't see it! I feel what u do in the bedroom is your business. I don't want to see it.I was not given the choice in this matter. I waited to hear his song but was disappointed by the dance. I don't care if u are gay or not. I do care what I am expossed to. Just sick. I didn't want to see him making out with anyone or even rubbing a girls crouch on a pole for that matter (if it was a girl)But to give everyone the finger at the end also....gee u love your fans!

Oh well--if a guy named "Anoop" says Lambert is a winner then who are we to question that! Give me a friggin break! Lambert has always been and will always be a disgusting, make-up wearing, butt hole jamming repulsive fag. Good Morning America was absolutely right to cancel his appearance so as not to lend an iota of recognition to Lambert's repulsive performance. My young daughter was watching the show and I had to explain to her what a flaming homo is--in two words--Adam Lambert.

This whatever he pretends to be is what is wrong with America today. Its pretty pathetic when America has to have his way of life thrown in our faces . In America you can be whatever you choose to be but you have zero right imposing your lifestyle on anyone else you she be ashamed and not allowed on tv until you learn to tone down your sick act.

EVERYTIME ADAM IS PHOTOGRAPHED BY THE PAPARRATZI HES SUCKING FACE WITH SOME GUY. I MEAN IF YOU WERE TALENTED DONT YOU THINK YOU WOULD SHOWCASE THAT INSTEAD OF WHAT YOU DO IN YOUR BEDROOM? ADAM IF YOU WANT GAY MEN TO BUY YOUR ALBUM YOU GOT IT, AS FOR A STRAIGHT WHITE WOMAN WHAT YOU DID WAS OFFENSIVE AND TO BE HONEST WITH YOU... CHEAP. NO CLASS. KEEP IT IN YOUR BEDROOM I DONT WANT TO SEE THAT AND MY DAUGTHER WHO WAS WATCHING THAT NIGHT WITH ME DIDNT DESERVE IT EITHER. ADAM LAMBERT IS A POSTER BOY FOR HOW TO CATCH THE AIDS VIRUS! WHO YA GONNA KISS NEXT ADAM? YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET SOME LISTERINE TO KILL THE GERMS! GROSS!

Adam Lambert is a disgrace to ALL Americans for what he did on the American Awards. I will never waste any of my money on any of his music. I think he should not be able to ever perform again on any Prime Time Shows. If it was up to me he would never get a spot on any kind of show. He is one sick bastard. Just shows you what a sick bastard is capable of doing in front of the whole world.

I was about to say something similar to what was posted. Those guys who defend this act are losers they did not even get to the finals yet they would condone this act. GMAB!!

::smiling:: Wonder if any of you are old enough to remember the reaction Elvis received for his performances with some audiences.
Not all of his performance (Adam's) was my taste either, however theatre and art are subject to the audience. It can't all be for everyone, otherwise we'd just all be the same. How boring would that be.

What a joke. All night long we had to put up with watching pulsating female crotches and read ends shaking for all to see. I think it was Shakira in black nickers that made her crutch the center point of the whole song and what that song was about lord knows! Not a word about the gals. At least his was a show that matched the title.

That's really funny--one loser (Anoop) defending another loser, Lambert. Wow! That's a great fan club that fag Lambert has. Who names their kid "Anoop" anyway. Can you imagine if Anoop won idol--what would his first CD be titled? "Anoop's greatest hits". Yeah that would have sold well!

Adam Lambert's show was no more suggestive than a lot of Michael Jackson's. It is a shame we lost Michael, but it's nice to know we have a replacement in the wings. Now if he just don't go overboard.

All cancelling his interview does is raise more awareness to the talented Adam. He is an awesome singer whether you like his style or not. Can't wait for my copy of his cd.
