Shakira Unleashes Inner 'She Wolf'

Shakira released her new album 'She Wolf' on Nov. 23, and PopEater was lucky enough to sit down with her for an exclusive interview.

During her visit to Manhattan, Shakira opened up about working with Lil' Wayne on her new single 'Give It Up To Me,' how she's measuring her success following 'Hips Don't Lie' and her latest obsession: backup dancers. Watch PopEater's 2-part interview with Shakira after the jump >>

Shakira, 32, has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and she's hoping for the same success with 'She Wolf.' The Colombian singer knew she wanted an album that featured more dance tracks and used "Indian, Middle-Eastern, Colombian and Jamaican" influences to help inspire her.

Shakira's second single 'Give It Up To Me' was produced by Timbaland and was a last minute addition that pushed her official CD release date back a month. "We decided to call Lil Wayne... He is just perfect. He's that great ingredient that the whole recipe was needing," she told PopEater.

The video for the single features a dance showcase called "stepping" that stays true to Shakira's culturally diverse routines. "I got to do a little bit of stepping, which is completely new to me. And it's the first time I've had a good group of backup dancers. It actually feels quite nice. You feel like they are really backing you up," she said.

While high record sales wouldn't hurt, Shakira admits she'll know the real success of her album once she goes on tour and sees how her fans react. "Music is the soundtrack of our lives... Artists embellish the everyday life of people through music. Of course you want people to enjoy your work. And nothing would make me more happier as an artist than knowing that people are having fun with this album and the music I've created."

"If they can forget about their troubles for ten seconds while they are listening to one of my songs, I would be absolutely fulfilled and satisfied as an artist," Shakira added.

Shakira is attractive. Unfortunately she is not a very good singer. She needs voice lessons or she should stick to song-writing.

Shakira is very beautiful, seemingly inside and out, and I very much admire the fact that she is using her fame to help disadvantaged people. But let's face it her music is godawful. I caught her performace on Good Morning America last week, and both songs she performed were absolutely horrible. That's just my opinion. To each his own I guess, obviously her music is enjoyed by someone, or she couldn't have sold 50 million albums.

Paula Abdul should have so much talent. This is one of the best CD's from her. It is great!!!!!!!!!!!! Go buy it, you won't be wasting your money. Look up the lyrics, she is a super talent. Writes, plays guitar, and harmonica, and who knows what else.
