Adam Lambert On His Best Behavior for David Letterman: Video

Adam Lambert chose to close out his scandal-filled week with a subdued performance on 'Late Show with David Letterman.' The singer, who came under fire for his sexed-up performance at this week's AMAs, stripped down the sound on 'What Do You Want From Me.'

There was no kissing, no crotch grabbing, just Adam Lambert doing what he did best on last season of 'American Idol' ... raising the roof with his voice. Watch the performance:

Following the AMAs, Lambert told PopEater "If you are in the public eye and you are a certain type of persona, you're putting certain ideas out there you're bound to have people look up to them. You're also bound to have people who completely reject them and hate you for it. I could be somebody's role model, but on the flip side I could be somebody's worst nightmare at the same time. I'm damn sure someone kicked Lambert in the ass, anad told him he was dangerously close to blowing his career. Bad play of words, but you know what I mean.

Amen! A woman beater over Adam, NOT!! I luv Adam's vocals & presentation but I would not have suggested that particular performance on AMA. That was an ooooops. Don't be another Boy George. Let's get back to & stick with positive music performances for the younger generation since they're the ones spending most of the money to buy Adam's music. He is worth the money. I want to see him get rich off his positive talent. These would be the same suggestions I'd offer to my adult son & adult grandson if they were in show business.

I really enjoyed this performance. I liked the song he sang at the AMAs, but the performance was a bit too much. I like him toned down a bit much better.

Yes Robert...You said it in a nutshell. JUST SING ADAM...We dont need all the other stuff. I for one, fell in love with his amazing voice, not to mention he is gorgeous and was very humble before t he AMA'S. lETS HOPE PEOPLE CAN PUT THIS BEHIND THEM AND ALLOW ADAM TO SHOW THE WORLD HIS AMAZING VOICE AND TALENT,.

He's got a great voice Jan glad you agree, I'd hate to see that dismissed. As a musician I appreciate his talent.

This was Adam at his best. Thank God Letterman didn't wimp out and cancel him after the debacle on the AMA. This song is one of the best on his new CD...and there will be others singles to follow - chart busters each and every one. The guy is destined for super stardom, not because he pushes boundaries, but soley due to his enormous talent and stage presence....and that voice! Put your judgements aside and allow him to develop as other artists have done. This guy's career has legs...trust me.
