Why Don't Stars Wear Pants Anymore?

Who knew that anyone was going to take "Pants Off, Dance Off" so seriously, much less every pop star under 50! Going pantsless has become a pop trend we just can't deny. No one who is anyone wears pants anymore. Take Sunday night's American Music Awards for example. Carrie Underwood performed in booty shorts, Jennifer Lopez in some silky skivvies and Lady Gaga in what we think may have been nude Spanx. Where have all the trousers gone? Our experts weigh in after the jump.

The blame for the lack of pants in today's world has to fall, at least a little, on Lady Gaga, who has made 2009 the year of no pants. "It's not that I don't like pants," she told the U.K. Daily Star newspaper. "I just choose not to wear them some days. I think no pants is sexy. I love the naked human body," she said. "I was working in strip clubs when I was 18."

"Pants are for the little people. Forgoing them lets a celebrity say, 'I don't worry about plebian concerns like bacterial infections or decency,'" says style expert Nadine Jolie, author of "Confessions of a Beauty Addict". "In the case of Lady Gaga, who is No Pants Patient Zero, it also handily proves that she is, indeed, a woman, and not packing heat as has been suggested."

Gaga may have been Patient Zero, but Miley Cyrus and Carrie Underwood have certainly been serial offenders.

"Firstly, we don't even call Carrie Underwood by her name in my office, it's strictly Carrie Underpants," says Pop Wrap's Ryan Brockington. "She rocks glitterpanties and sparkleshorts like some sort of new fad. I get it, it's hot up there on stage, but drink some water and hold your breath, we all get a little winded. As for other girls, especially the younger ones like Miley Cyrus, that is just plain wrong. The young teens that come to your concert are there to see you sing and smile, not to pray your tampon string doesn't slip out -- don't laugh, it happened to Britney."

And in an age where celebrities need to keep pushing the envelope in order to gain attention, less [clothing] is definitely more.

"Pop stars have never been big believers that some things are better left unseen," says Samantha Marcus Yanks, Editor-in-Chief of Gotham and Hamptons magazines. "Being given the freedom to make fashion choices should lead to individuality. Sometimes, it leads to too much uniformity."

But a warning for those who do choose to embrace the trend. If you're not covering your booty, make sure your booty looks good.

"Sexy doesn't mean not wearing pants," Marcus yanks says. "But, if you don't, make sure you have the body to do so. Not wearing pants is a little bit..well...cheeky."

Yah..... I was thinking the same thing!!!! what does she mean "little people"? Who does this woman think she is?????????? there all nasty!!! If they are all so talented why do they need to all look half naked all the time???? Don't get it. I respect a woman who can sing with clothing on. Tells me she is secure in herself. lol,lol,lol then you concentrate on there voice not what there wearing!

You know, for years people in the media and entertainment industry have been crying that this country is too straight laced, too prudish. For decades they have cheered on the sex-i-fication of all entertaiment. Now that they have they wanted, they are crying about it. Do people in America even know what it is they want, or do they just always just want what they don't have.
Also...give Miley a break, she is 16 for crying out loud. Give her a body a chance to mature. As for Madonna, she has stayed far too long at the party.

The real reason they dont wear pants, or panties anymore, is because most of the "stars" have sex so often that its MUCH easier and quicker if you dont have to bother taking them OFF and then putting them ON again for the next guy you meet!!!
