When we sat down for a Thanksgiving feast next to 13-year-old Amanda G. from New Jersey, we turned to her immediately to ask her what she thought of 'Twilight: New Moon' fever sweeping her peers. What Amanda told us shocked us to the core.
"It's ridiculous," laughed Amanda about 'Twilight.' "Everyone sees it, reads it, It's worse than Harry Potter."
Amanda wasn't amused by the aftermath of this obsession. "Unfortunately, they also always talk about it. Everything is 'Oh my God, Robert Pattinson is SO hot. Kiss kiss kiss.'" Amanda looked sad as she realized "that's my day, Robert Pattinson this and that."
Was Amanda buying into Pattinson fever? Not a chance. "I think he's ugly and he can't act and he has no career ahead of him. He got lucky at his audition and now they have to use him for all the movies," she observed.
So Amanda was clearly not Team Edward. Did that mean she was Team Jacob? Kinda. "He's not hot," she said when asked if her preference was Taylor Lautner. "But he's got very cool muscles. Bet he's got an eight pack."
Amanda thinks Lautner's got what it takes to make it in the biz. "He's got a career ahead of him. He could play a vampire, something dark and creepy."
What about Kristen Stewart? "I think she's pretty. She looks like she has great hair in the movie."
Amanda, who spends her time away from the classroom playing soccer, practicing violin and contemplating taking up competitive cheerleading, said she was never into 'Twilight,' even before the movies came along. "Everyone said it was super good, so you read three pages of it and it was crap. You had to read the first two Harry Potter books before you decided you didn't like it, but 'Twilight' only took three pages."
Amanda does hold out high hopes that the darker the books get, the spicier the movies may become. "The next movies will be R-rated, so I've heard" she said before returning to her turkey and stuffing.
More Gals Debate Over New Moon's Merits: Watch Girls on Pop:
Well, i dont think so! there are 10000 more teens who think the other way, some dont, everybody is diffrent, and publicating just an oppinion of a young girl is quite silly! I really do like the Twilight saga movies and books, they are cool! I dont really call any of them "my love my love" whatever, all i want to say is that dont be so agressive, they are ppl just like us!))
publicating?!?!? publicating. . . you've got to be kidding! publicating. . . O-M-G!!!
To publish is to make content publicly known. The term is most frequently applied to the distribution of text or images on paper, or to the placing of content on a website.
The word publication means the act of publishing, and it also means any writing of which copies are published, and any website. Among publications are books, and periodicals, the latter including magazines, scholarly journals, and newspapers.
Who is she and why did she do an interview? Sounds set up or fake! A 13 year old shoould not LOVE anything like this story...not because of what they are but for how old they are. He is too old for her and so is the subject matter! At 13 she has no idea what "good" acting is! Really, how many movies has she watched to have the skills to know what is "good" or "bad" acting. Shame on the people doing the "interview" or simply being stupid about the subject! It is a good story, written fairly well, and will encourage people to read more! (Like Harry Potter did)
the reason theyre posting it is because she seems to be one of the FEW teenage girls thats not all gaga over these stupid books/movies so of course theyre going to post it. its nice after hearing about how "awesome" it is. i thought it was neat to see something different for a change
not a big deal. i'm 13, and i don't like twilight either. like, what's the big deal? i started reading it in fourth grade, and now it's just all big and annoying.
Twilight just makes me UGH. Oooh look at the sullen teen angsty vampire with his sullen teen angsty girlfriend, and the sullen teen angsty werewolf. Smile dammit!
I respect there's others who SQUEEEEEEE over them, but respect my right to think it's a steaming pile of sullen teen angst.
LOL...my thoughts exactly! During the whole article I kept thinking "Geez, what an incredibly rude little girl" Not because she has an opinion, of which she is most certainly entitled to, but the way she expressed that opinion was beyond disrespectful. Worse is the way this display is being rejoiced. I'm sure she is quite proud of herself for being featured in an article and giving her elders a good laugh. That doesn't do much to discourage similar behavior in the future.
Hopefully someone will teach her how to express an opinion without being offensive.
He only had 5 lines in the two entire movie. Not much of a chance to show any skills yet. And besides, who cares if he can't act. My god Taylor is frigging HOT! I wouldn't doubt for a minute this was a story handed out by Twilights pr people.
I just don't understand why we need to get specific opinions from people and why those who hate the Twilight Saga have to make their opinions known. If they hate it, which if you haven't read or seen them you have no way to know, leave it alone and let those of us who love the fictional story and characters enjoy our time in the theater. we don't need to know who all hate it and why. We love it and don't need to explain it to any of you.

I think it's funny that the 13 yr old wants it to be spicier & rated "r" in the future... seems like she a little too mature for her age.

It's Amanda, and you apparently care since you read it and gave a thought. Go crawl back in your non-social cave.

I agree with you Natalie. How can someone judge if they have not read or seen the movie?
