When you pick up a drink, it is a choice, not a disease. The disease is mental and that is what is making you drink to cover your problems. Having married an alcoholic, I know full well what it's like to be on the receiving end. We get all the work, the alcoholic gets to lounge all day and night, making your life absolutely miserable! David needs an intervention and detox for more than the 30 day stint. If he is seizing, his liver is going going gone. He can't do this alone, like other druggies who can't do it alone.

The American Medical Association has deemed alcoholism a disease since 1957. Have more medical
knowledge than that esteemed group of doctors?

I just watched the Biography of Andy Gibb. He died at 30 from an enlarged heart caused by drugs and alcohol abuse. The broadcast said that Andy had an addictive personality as well. I also believe that we are looking at environmental factors contributing to his and David's diseases. The human body is most suseptable to addiction if it is introduced early in life. Once you pass 25, your chemical and metal programming is established. Tastes in music, food and habits are well set. Anything after that, you can start and stop pretty easily. The Hollywood and music world is full of partying and most actors and musicians are introduced to them during that programming time of their lives. After a few years, it is tough for many of them to break off. Also the laws are not in favor of helping. You have to wait until the person you care about is near death before you can legally help. How stupid it that? We have a long way to go in this area. Look at Russia, no booze control and they have a 50% alcoholism rate in the young adult age group. As a civilized country, we all need to stop promoting boozing and drug use.

HELL __JUST BURY THE DRUNK !!!

He didn't suffer a seizure, he's just drunk again.
They didn't notice the empty vodka bottles next to him.

They should pass a law that he can only drink MGD 64. That way he would have to drink a 30 pack in an hour to get drunk. Not happening. lol

What the man needs is a stiff drink. Just lock him up in a liquor store so he can get his fill.

Thanks, guys... It's always nice to feel validated.
For B. - I think that maybe you are enabling yourself, or a loved one. I pray that I'm wrong about that, but I'm probably not.
For ads9935 - "Alcoholism is not a disease"? I beg to differ! Alcoholism is a disease that is recognized by the AMA as well as tens of millions of people in America alone. Oh, I guess you're one of those that believe someone can simply "MAN-UP", right??? I hate that it didn't "take" with Hasselhoff, but the truth is, the guy has a problem with alcohol and drugs, and needs REAL help, not a Hollywood kinda "show time help". Besides, what are YOUR credentials???

Oh David, maybe you need to make love to a burger. No really something is wrong with him.
