Who:Fallbrooke Album: 'Fallbrooke' Video: 'Take Me Under' Hails From: Los Angeles, Calif. by way of South Florida For Fans Of: Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance
Why They're About to Pop: From Internet romances to zombies, Fallbrooke have it covered. With their debut album via RMR Music Group, the rockers -- frontman Eric McNeely, drummer Kevin Schwarz, bassist Augusto Vega and guitarist Chris Gustin -- are embracing both life experiences and longtime dreams. The band's first single, 'Losin' It,' is about a girl that McNeely chatted with through webcam, and has been featured on MTV's 'The Hills.' Meanwhile, their following single, 'Take Me Under,' was given an exciting horror movie treatment for its music video, thanks to director Pax Franchot and make-up artist Greg Aronowitz.
While their music has already received Top 40 radio airplay, the guys stay grounded and are thankful for their devoted fans. "Recently, one of our fans saw that we were at Disneyland for Eric's birthday, because we were updating our statuses on Twitter. So she replied [to] us, asking us to meet her in the front gate. We met up with her and hung out for a while," the band tells PopEater. "It's insane to us how easy it is to stay connected through social networking and technology these days." Seven Questions With Fallbrooke:
What was it like to film your video for 'Take Me Under'?
It was cold, tiring, itchy and gross, but an amazingly fun experience. The shoot was three days, from 5PM until 6AM the next day. We're huge fans of horror movies. So, to incorporate that into one of our music videos was just a dream come true. Working with director Pax Franchot, make-up artist Greg Aronowitz and the rest of the crew was just easy and so much fun. If we could, we'd do it all over again.
Your song 'Losin' It' is about an online romance. Is it based on personal experience?
Eric: Yeah, it is, actually. I wrote it as a joke, actually, for this girl who lived on the other side of the country. We met through MySpace and were talking a lot through the webcam at that time. I would've never thought it would've been our first single.
What's your favorite song from the album, and why?
That's a tough question to answer. We can all agree that -- since we are in the process of writing a few more new songs to throw on this album before we physically release it in stores early next year -- it hasn't been heard yet.
Where were you the first time you heard one of your songs on radio or TV, and what was your reaction?
The first time we heard our song 'Losin' It' on the radio, we were driving in Lansing, Mich., about to play a home invasion. On the way in the van, we were listening to 97.5 NOW FM, and it came on a few times. It was definitely surreal and exciting! The first time we saw our music video on TV was with Music Choice On Demand. The crew at Music Choice has added both our music videos so far, and has kept them up for long periods of time. We just feel grateful for everyone's ongoing support. You stay very connected with your fans -- you've said that you answer every single message you get. What's the craziest fan encounter you've had?
Well, recently one of our fans saw that we were at Disneyland for Eric's birthday, because we were updating our statuses on Twitter. So she replied [to] us, asking us to meet her in the front gate. We met up with her and hung out for a while. It's insane to us how easy it is to stay connected through social networking and technology these days.
