Adam Lambert Says He Acts the Way He Does Because He Used to Be Fat

Adam Lambert's crazy pants American Music Awards appearance all makes a little more sense to us after hearing his interview with the Morning Jolt's Larry Flick on Sirius radio, where Lambert admits he suffered from an ugly duckling complex because he used to be quite the fatty.

"I suffered from a little bit of an ugly duckling complex in my early twenties. When I was in high school I was 250 pounds and that creates some stuff...some body image stuff, some confidence issues and I got a lot of my confidence from the validation I got as a performer," Lambert said. "It's common for kids who were made fun of for their weight to act out in that way. When you are developing your identity during those important years your self image and physical appearance are who you are," explains psychologist Cooper Lawrence, author of "The Cult of Celebrity." "Until you develop a life, a resume and a sense of who you are inside and you are criticized for weight it can have a long lasting impact. The AMAs were the perfect 'look at me now' moment. He not only looks amazing but he is so comfortable with who he is and it shows."

It is all coming together. Lambert used to be a chubby and now that he is much more svelte and sexy he wants to flaunt it as best he can, even if flaunting it means smooching his male guitarist and simulating oral sex onstage. We just bought some new skinny jeans when we managed to shed those hard to lose pounds, but hey, to each his own.

I too was fat. Luckily for me I am not as stupid as Adam Lambert. Fat isn't an excuse for tasteless. Fat isn't an excuse for lack of judgement. Fat isn't an excuse for insult. Fat may have made many of us victims of tasteless, poor judgement or insult but it doesn't give any of us the right to be obnoxious - especially when we (Adam Lambert) are trying to get ordinary people to spend their money to keep me (Adam Lambert) in my chosen lifestyle. Adam Lambert is being advised by idiots, or not at all. He needs help from someone who isn't interested in his ass.

I think he thinks like most overweight people do. If you lose the weight your life will be perfect and you can do whatever you want and be popular! Well, losing the weight is good, but that doesn't mean you can be a total ass and demean yourself and others in public all in the name of entertainment. Low class is low class, no matter what you weigh. I predict a very sleazy life for Adam. And not much of a career after that display.

This fool can think of more excuses for his disgusting behavior. The fat must have gone to his head. He is gay, so what? I know of gay people who do not flaunt their sexuality, especially in public. I know fat people who would certainly never use being fat as an excuse to be crude.

I dont know why everyone is being so hard on Adam. Janet Jackson was grabbing mens crotches at the very beginning of the show & nothing was said about her being raunchy.

Exactly and Janet Jackson is an old ugly no talented broad.At least Adam is gorgeous and has talent. What about Eminem and his filthy lyrics,Lagy Gaga keeping her legs spread through her whole piano playing set,Rhianna barely dressed,Enen perfect saint Carrie Undwood in pants so short and tight you could see every line and crack and she sure was thrusting it to the audience!.All thats ok just Adam gets condemned.How unfair!

I have plenty of friends that have lost significant amounts of weight. None of us turned into a cross dressing, eye liner wearing, Elvis Pressley hair having flaming mo! He's so full of crap! He did his performance, then when questioned about it, his initial response was "Some people aren't going to get it. Some will. I can't change their minds." Now, when he runs out of excuses for singing poorly, he concocts this ridiculous story. "Oh, I act like this because I used to be fat" What a crock! He's a fame hungry child that can't get his own personal story straight. Thanks Adam, for reinforcing most of America's belief that they DID vote for the correct winner last year. At least Kris Allen KNOWS his limitations, and accepts them. Grow up Adam...

Soooo disappointed in this talented man. Appears so open, friendly, classy when being interviewed. Has this wonderful voice and talent for theatre. First huge chance to be viewed by those who didn't follow his AI performances, and HE ROYALLY SCREWS IT UP. Don't care that he's gay, I wish he'd quit using that as an excuse. If that had been Janet Jackson up there pushing another performers face into her crotch, it would have been just as bad, just as vulgar for a broadcast TV audience not expecting that. Quit with the 'no apologies from me' attitude and the whole homophobe thing. That's not it. He blew it. Too bad because those who followed him from AI sure expected a smarter performer.

You know what you are the first person I have seen say something sane. I don't care that he is gay either. You have to wonder if someone purposely led him astray or if he did it all on his own. I just don't get how a guy can really think in his right mind that he could perform like that and think that everybody will love him for it.

So does that mean that it's OKAY to continue this kind of behavior? Does that make it RIGHT? This is exactly what's wrong with our society today. Just because so and so did this, I can do that. What kind of mentality is that? One that has led to the pathetic state of morals and humanity in the world today. Remember when you were a kid, your Mom used to say "Well, if "billy" told you to jump off a cliff would you?"
Furthermore, I think Adam may be catching a little more slack because he is gay. But, frankly and I know this is not "politically correct" maybe some Americans are NOT ready to see THAT MUCH homosexuality and you know what?... THAT IS OKAY!!! I am sick and tired of everyone being afraid to state their opinion for fear of being sued by or retaliated against by gay rights activists, etc. I believe in live and let live, but that doesn't mean I want it thrown in my face.

Also, it sort of contradicts the very thing that most homosexuals believe in..the right to be judged as a person, NOT by what they do in the bedroom. If that is the case, why specifically and blatantly showcase what you do in the bedroom instead of your musical talent as a person????
I have a friend who is gay and he doesn't draw attention to his sexuality for this very reason. He wants to be known for who he is, not what he does in bed. Think about it!!!!!

One more thing..I think Adam is very talented and it has nothing to do with his looks or the fact that he is gay. It's a shame that the only thing he wants to show the world now is the fact that he is gay. I hope he wakes up and gets back to focusing on the incredible performances he showed on AI. He doesn't need the other stuff to gain respect. In fact, sadly, it lost him respect. It seems as well, that he has gained some arrogance. That is too bad.
