Susan Boyle Destroys U.S. Chart Records

You've had a good week,
Susan Boyle. The
'Britain's Got Talent' star sold an astounding 701,000 copies of her debut album,
'I Dreamed a Dream,' in the U.S., giving her the best first week sales of 2009 and the best-selling debut album by any woman since SoundScan began tracking in 1991.
It's also the biggest debut album by any artist since Snoop Dogg's 'Doggystyle' in 1993.
Her record label, Columbia, said Wednesday that 'Dream' has moved a whopping 3 million copies around the world in its opening week.
Also amazing is the way people purchased the album. Although digital sales have grown for years -- with iTunes being the main beneficiary -- consumers headed back to the record store for Boyle's debut.
Columbia chairman Steve Barnett told the
New York Times that only about 39,000 of Ms. Boyle's total in the United States were sold through iTunes. Consumers could also purchase the album on shopping network QVC.
"The reason that this record really did what it did," Mr. Barnett told the Times, "was that people wanted to get it and own it, to feel like they're a part of it."
Before Boyle, the biggest seller of the year was Eminem's 'Relapse.'
It was not, however, a record-breaking week for a decidedly different reality star: Adam Lambert. The 'American Idol' runner-up opened at No. 3 with 198,000 copies sold.

Susan deserves it!

I think the record industry has forgotten that the general public would like to OWN most of what they buy. When you download music, it feels like you have a temporary copy. I really don't want to spend my hardearned money on something "Temporary."

Wonder what that idiot Sharon Osborne has to say now? Good for you Ms. Boyle you deserve it.

Right on Lori...Sharon Osborne needs to look at what she married anad gave birth to..talk about 3 people that gpot hit with the ugly stick! lets face it, she stayed in it for the money and the fame...typical show bizzz media whore woman.
I never bothered to listen to this chick before. Until I heard "Wild Horses."

Uh...yeah. She's bigger than The Beatles , Snoop Dawg , The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson ,and Petula Clark! Whatever. Sheep!

she obviously touched a lot of people, and that the market is not in the box!

One would think that record producers might look at Boyle and think that maybe the US market is very large for someone who can actually sing and does not attempt to alibis no voice by doing crotch grabs and butt shakes. But I am sure they will not as they produce records for their tastes and count on the mindless young minds of America to accept that this is talent...but then Boyle crushes the charts with her pure voice singing..you would think...naw it will stay the same.

Downloaded music is like beer. You only rent it.
Good for a while, and then you flush it away,
once you've had enough of it.

Pure singing talent, nothing less. Surely not the trash that is getting the exposure they don't deserve (are you listening Adam and all the other no talent fags looking for attention?)

I don't care for Adam Lambert either, but what does him being gay have to do with anything.....moron!!
FINALLY, SOMEONE WITH REAL TALENT GETTING SOME RECOGNITION. CONGRATULATIONS, SUSAN!!!
I WISH THOSE NO-TALENT HO'S - J-LO, RIANNA, AND BEYONCE - WOULD GO SIT THEIR ASSES DOWN SOMEWHERE!

I could not hardly believe my ears when I heard Susan sing. All I have to say is to Susan,
'YOU GO GIRL"
Beyonce can sing. Don't forget to add brooke hogan, britney spears, and those others. Since you only targeted certain races.
ELOHVE, the 3 no-talent ho's had nothing to do with race so S.T.F.U. they suck. it's that simple.
This is like a cinderella story. Susan Boyle was meant for this fame and I do believe this was divine intervention. She is shining example to me that we must press on and never doubt that good things do happen for good people. God bless her!

Talent and timing does sometimes transend one's appearance and age. This is a good listen for all of us "never judge a book by it's cover." We live in such a superficial, materialistic society in general, yet there are still enough people in the world who appreciate beauty in any form.

Thank you Jean and if I were blind and heard her sing, I would think I was listening to the most beautiful woman in the world. Her beauty goes all the way to her heart and you can hear it in her music.
Congratulations, Susan!
I think Sharon Osbourne owes her a very sincere apology.
(Who am I kidding? Sharon? Apologize? To anyone?)

Reading the headline I asked myself how she could "destroy" anything with the sale of her CD. Who on earth writes the headlines. Why not say that she is on top and it looks as if she will stay there? Also........where on earth does one find new records these days, not that I have anything to play one on anymore? the only place that I find records is in the thrift stores. UMMMM should it not be the music industry instead? I know counting beans again. Then again, I made a special trip to buy my hard copy of the dvd.
