Chris Brown Is 'Really Hurting Inside'

Chris Brown is still feeling sorry for his assault on Rihanna, the embattled R&B singer told 'Good Morning America' reporter Robin Roberts, saying that his smiling demeanor shouldn't be misconstrued as a lack of sincerity behind his apologies. "I'm really hurting inside and it's kind of like devastating to me," he said in the candid interview.

Brown, who gave his first post-assault tell-all interview to Larry King shortly after his sentencing, is now throwing his PR team under the bus for his lack of communications following the February beating of Rihanna. Despite wanting to come out and address the situation, Brown says he "had three or four days of PR and people telling me, 'OK, don't say this or don't say this because they're gonna take it this way.' So my head was not really giving me a chance to be me, it was me being me through other people."

When his video apology finally did come out, Brown says "it was genuinely from me but it wasn't projected correctly."

Brown also addresses RIhanna's statements that domestic violence was a recurring problem in their relationship, shooting down such claims.

"I never ever had problems with anger, domestic violence in my past ... Girlfriends ... I wasn't that kind of person," he says in the interview.

Still, Brown says he's very aware of just how serious thing are.

"I was wrong for what I did. It's something that I will not look past. I will definitely say that ... Like I said I'm really sorry for what went down and what happened."

I agree. He has no idea what "hurting" really is and I'd be happy to show him some "hurting". Any man who beats a woman like he did is no man at all. If Rihanna was my wife or daughter he wouldn't be "hurting" right now, he'd be "dead".

People get lives this incident happened a YEAR ago and there are many celebrities that have done worse repeatedly and get a pat on the back. I don't understand the venom spewed at this kid at least he admits he is wrong and does not throw Rihanna under the bus to sell records like she did.

I find it odd that Rihanna didn't want to talk about the incident until her new CD came out. The whole thing is ugly. It's weird to me that people want this incident to end Chris Browns career, but make a joke about the possibility of the same thing happening to Tiger Woods.

Michelle, I don't think anyone wants his career to end. He chose to beat up his girlfriend, maybe under the illusion, that his celebrity would save him from public scrutiny. If his career goes down the tubes, it's because he put himself there. I could care less if his career continues or ends. What is sad is that there is always someone who chooses to look upon violence and abuse as a dismissible act even when it's not. He beat her.... regardless of how good a performer he is, he beat a woman.

I totally agree and you should have written it in all caps. It takes two and Rihanna is not standing up to the part that she played in the relationship. There are people who saw her being violent with him in VA. I think SHE is trying to ruin his career.

I say it again, he is lucky that he is not hurting all over. He got away with assaulting his girlfriend and the brothers in the pen serving time for the same charge, would not be very understanding.

Michelle,,, Your so right, she said she prefered not to speak about it. The her cd was ready to sell, then she sure had lots to say about it all then.. Is he GOD no people make mistakes. He's a 20 year old boy. Give him a break, Rihanna only adrress this as she said she build a empire and is not letting anyone tear it down.

She did not do this for those poor young girls who look up to her. She did it so women would buy her CD. Because people were getting angry at her for going back to Chris. Bottom line money talks. Chris Brown ain't sorry about anything. He lived like this in the hood. It's their way of life. It's just like sex. Marriage has nothing to do with their drive to screw. It doesn't matter with who and it doesn't matter where. They do not see what the big deal is. It;s the way their culture is.Why would folks get so upset over a little beating?
