Jane Kaczmarek Having 'Hard' Time With Divorce From Bradley Whitford

It's been a "very hard" year for Jane Kaczmarek, who announced in June she is divorcing her husband of 16 years, Bradley Whitford.

The 'Malcom in the Middle' star told PEOPLE she finds solace in working on the foundation the couple co-founded, Clothes Off Our Back, which auctions off celebrity attire to benefit children's charities.

"Realizing that even when things go bad, compared to the way the rest of the world lives, we are sitting in clover," she said. "Being in India [with the organization], you know there's nothing you can ever complain about again."

The 53-year-old actress is hopeful that she and her 'West Wing'-starring ex be able to handle the challenges, saying "Brad and I have three magnificent children and we look forward to raising them. We say we are going to be a family that lives in two different houses.

"There are challenges, but I think it will be a good year."

I have had the honor of meeting Ms.Kaczmarek at several charity functions. She is one of the nicest and most genuine people (especially for someone from Hollywood) I have ever met. She is always there to lend a hand even if it involves hard work.

God Bless her. I hope all works out for her.

never felt that she -nor the cast or writers- of Malcolm in the Middle ever got their dues in terms of annual awards. they were all wonderful and she's a gifted and varied talent. hope that things get better for her in her personal life and that the press does not PRY as they always seem to. (this does seem to be not that sort of story however).

To have Kate Gosselin's name listed with the rest of these highly talented women is just ridiculous. She needs to go away. She exceeded her 15 minutes by a long shot.

My thoughts exactly!! Won't she ever just go away? At least the others on the list had some real talent and something to offer. Although I feel badly for the two of them, the only thing good about the Tiger/Elin Woods thing is that it knocked the Gosselins out of the headlines.

What a class act they both seem to be. I was shocked to hear about the divorice, but neither is dragging the other's name through the mud, and they seem to be putting their children first. I am sorry for them -- they both seem like nice, down-to-earth individuals, but they seem to be handling the situation with grace and respect for one another.
