Elisabeth Hasselbeck 'Going for the Kill' With Adam Lambert

If you like drama, you may want to set your DVR to tape 'The View' on Thursday, as there is going to be an old-fashioned throwdown between host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and the newly-controversial Adam Lambert. Word is the conservative host is ready to pounce on the openly gay star's recent racy performance. Also in the column, Elton comforts Billy Joel and Catherine Zeta Jones is one classy gal. It's On Between Hasselbeck and Lambert

Of all the fabulous argue-happy ladies on 'The View,' the conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the one that is most excited about controversial singer Adam Lambert's taping today ... because she smells blood in the 'View' water. "She can't wait to bait Adam about his infamous inappropriate performance," an insider told me, "and don't expect her to pull any punches. She's going for the kill."

Lambert's face-in-crotch, keyboardist-tonguing American Music Awards performance seems to be easy fodder for Hasselbeck, who 99 out of 100 times falls on the right side of politically neutral. She's also said to be quite upset that Lambert's 'View' interview and performance will be taped (and air on Thursday) rather than the usual live format, because she knows this is is a big, fat softball for her to whallop out of the park. But she should probably blame Lambert for that, as ABC -- for good reason -- is a bit nervous about giving him a live spot.

"Elizabeth knows the power of live TV. Remember, it was her live fight with Rosie that made her a household name. She would love to make headlines again by getting into it with Adam," said a source.

However, if she thinks Lambert is easy prey, she might be in for a surprise. Lambert's pal has told me: "Adam has had to deal with people like her all his life. If it's a fight she wants, she's got it."

Rocket Man Comforts Piano Man

When the tragic news broke that Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley's daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, was hospitalized after a reported failed suicide attempt, the first person to call offering support was superstar Elton John.

"Elton has been friends with Billy for years and knows only too well the effects of substance abuse. He did what any other real friend would do in the same circumstance, he wanted to help," a friend of Elton tells me.

This isn't the first time the flamboyant star has wanted to get involved. He also reached about to troubled singer George Michael, who told him to, "shut up and get on with his own life." We're guessing (and hoping) Elton's call to Billy was a bit more cordial.

Catherine Zeta Jones Gives Lansbury Star Treatment

Not only is Catherine Zeta Jones Broadway's biggest and newest arrival, she's also its most generous. Catherine insisted from day one that the real star of the new production of 'A Little Night Music' would be Broadway legend Angela Lansbury. "Catherine is such a huge movie star who could have demanded the whole revival be all about her. Instead, she did the opposite. She is sharing top billing above the title and has even made sure that Angela gets the star dressing room right next to the stage," a 'Music' insider says.

When was the last time you heard of a movie star deflecting attention on themselves so that another could shine? That's right ... probably never. So the next time one of you big Hollywood film stars fancy doing a little bit of old Broadway, give Catherine a ring before you learn your lines.

I'm with you on that Ailene, I'd bet all my money on Adam also. Elizabeth thinks she is ALL that but she is NOTHING but a WANTABE. She whines about everything. Just because she is self righteous & thinks her Sh*t doesn't stink she thinks every one else should be just like her. Well Elizabeth take a look out your window and see that it is almost 2010 not 1960's any more. I hope that Adam eats her alive and makes her look like more of a FOOL than she already does. GO ADAM !!!!

You know what i would like to know??? So i know him kissing another guy on tv wasnt a part of the show but was the guys on leashes??? was draggin a girl by her leg??? was shoving a persons head in his crotch a part of the show?? Did the Ama say it was okay... know whos fault was it to put him on this spot?? Didnt paula abdul do the dancing routines for the ama?? I Think theres MORE then one person(s) to blame for this whole thing....

If you watched the interview he had the next morning with Diane Sawyer, you would know that he added all those "controversial" moves to his act. They weren't part of rehearsal at all. And he wouldn't apologize, even though he knew that there were children watching. He really should be ashamed for the lewd and lascivious acts he performed on stage.

I think you should blame whoever is putting him out...We LOVE Adam because he is an AMAZING talent...he has it all. He didnt need to pull a Madonna or a Britney...all he needed to do was SING!! Hes a brillant performer and should of just showcased that! Thats all i needed from him as a fan!

Pretty funny "Make gay look bad"? I think the str8 population is doing quit a bit to make themselves look bad. It's not the gays that are currently in the news killing their familes or children. I could go on and on with what the str8's are doing to this country. If the worse that the gays have is Adam Lambert's performance on stage. Then we will take it. Not the 16th century? No longer the 60s? Has morality and appropriate behavior changed? We are heading down a slippery slope when we idolize and encourage this deviant sleazy "entertainment". When the moral fabric of our society is totally shredded and even you are shocked and dismayed by the actions of those who follow in your footsteps, we will be finished as a society. It has happen before. Study history.
