Nikki Blonsky Dishes on 'Hairspray 2'

Actress Nikki Blonsky is busy prepping for 'Hairspray 2' and tells PopEater the sequel will live up to the success of the 2007 movie musical.

"Behind the genius of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, they are writing 17 brand new songs... We have all the right people who came up with the first one, so they can knock the second one out of the park." Director Adam Shankman and writer John Waters will also be returning to work on the new film. Watch the exclusive interview after the jump. >>

'Hairspray 2: White Lipstick' is slated for 2010 and will follow the success of 2007's Broadway tuner that grossed $200 million when re-adapted for the screen.

And no worries girls, Zac Efron will be back. "Where would Tracy be without Link?.. He is the only Link in my heart," Blonsky says.

Although she doesn't know where the couple will be in their relationship, she is pulling for no romantic drama. "I can only imagine they would still be together. Tracy and Link are the 'Hairspray' couple," she adds.

Of course, Blonsky couldn't escape questions about her friendly kiss with 'Glee' actor Cory Monteith at Marshalls & TJ Maxx's 'Carol-oke' contest in Bryant Park. "I'm used to being asked 'What's it like to kiss Zac Efron?' But now everybody is like, 'What is a kiss from Cory like?'"

"I am a very lucky girl. Zac Efron and Cory from 'Glee.' This is exciting. He was wonderful. It was a great kiss," she says.

And without a doubt, she'd love to appear on 'Glee' in the future. "Even if they don't sing a 'Hairspray' song, I'll sing anything," she gushes.

it would be nice if zac said he was returning instead of hearing it from someone else. and until then i won't believe it.

he should stay far, far, far, far away from this sequel.

i agree. for zac to do this movie after "17 again" "maow" and "csc" would be like going back to kindergarten after graduating from harvard. not a wise career decision

hairspray is the most successful movie Zac Efron has done. Why stay away from it?

Why would he not want to be in a film that has A list stars (excluding Niki) and make a nice paycheck?

Hairspray was such a happy movie. It's one I always put on when I need a pick-me-up. I can't wait to see Hairspray 2. For any nay-sayers, don't go! I'll enjoy the movie without you there.

This is pretty par for the course Nikki. Well she seems confident, Zac always seems to give non-answers.

Having seen the original Broadway play, which was fantastic, I was extremely disappointed with the movie. They not only changed the ending they left out some great songs. And John travolta was ridiculous as the mother. Nikki was great but the movie not so great for me.

Zac has NEVER said he's doing this movie. Instead he beats around the bush and says things like "I hear it's going to happen." Or "That sounds like a good idea." I sense that he is trying not to hurt anyone's feelings. He doesn't have to do this movie. Ms. Blonsky does. She has nothing else. This is the only role she will ever receive recognition for. And why does she have to speak for Zac? He has a publicist who can do that for him. Or he could very well speak for himself.

I really hope Zac doesn't do it because if he does he's throwing away all his hard work. Plus from what I've heard about Hairspray 2 it sounds like a really dumb idea.

P.S. No offense, but her voice sounds fake and a little annoying.
