Carrie Underwood takes no prisoners in the latest issue of Esquire -- bashing everyone from 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell to her Dallas Cowboy's ex, Tony Romo. The 26-year-old country star reveals the honest truth about her life, why you'll never see her turn political and the harsh reality that "as you step off that stage, you're pretty much alone." See the juicy interview >> Her initial feelings about flying to L.A. for 'American Idol': "I was so nervous when I was on my way to L. A. I'd never been on a plane, and I was going alone. I kind of got teary-eyed. My dad was driving, and he said, "If you want to go home, we can go home, and you never have to think about this again. And I thought, If I don't go, I'm choosing for this not to happen. It will be my choice. So I figured it would be easier for me to get kicked off American Idol than to have it be my own decision."
What she really thinks about Simon Cowell: "Simon's obviously very smart. But he's not the smartest person I know."
On whether 'Cowboy Casanova' is about her ex Tony Romo: "No. I would never immortalize a guy that did me wrong. I would never give him that much credit."
Her thoughts on tabloids: "People can take your words and make them into something awful and something you never meant it to be... It's hard to find people who don't want something from you."
Why she won't use her fame to influence politics: "Americans don't need Carrie Underwood telling them who to vote for. They're smarter than that."
The reality of fame she's faced: "When people think of what it's like to be famous, they think of the Ritz. But I've been in hotels where I will not take my shoes off. I will wear flip-flops in the shower. I've seen more basements of venues than I've seen of the United States. People think, 'Oh, you travel around, you get to see the country.' I've seen basements, I've seen concrete, I've seen pillars."
The "controversy" about her first single: "After I released 'Jesus, Take the Wheel,' people started saying, 'Oh, it's kind of risky. You're coming out with a religious song.' And I was thinking, 'Really?' I grew up in Oklahoma, I always had a close relationship with God. I never thought it was risky in the least. If anything, I thought it was the safest thing I could do."

and who called upon you to judge her? Only God can do that.......
Didn't your Sunday school teacher teach you that God should be capitalized? If you are going to accuse someone of not being close to God, you should at least get that right. Do you also believe Jessica Simpson doesn't have a close relationship with God? I mean, she's a preacher's daughter who slept with an athlete out of marriage. Jeff, Jeff, Jeff--let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I know I'm not that person and I doubt you are either.
Jeff do you always talk out of your @#*...Carrie has already said that she wont live with a boyfriend...she has moral values that you cant even get close to... Carrie has a tremendous voice and has used her fame for good...more then be said for most
Just becaue you slept with every man that ever smiled at you, doesn't mean every woman does.
AND YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE BECAUSE?
Typical AOL, misleading headlines and misconstrued intent. There was no bashing there, just her opinion. Not mean hearted in any way. Who writes these columns? Junior high kids?

I like Carrie Underwood and just love her singing/songs. But her Holiday Special was a DUD! Whoever produced and directed it did a terrible job.

people r mixed up on being godly. who is there god ?the devil, thats who they act like
Jeff...You assume she had sex with Romo. How the hell would you know?? Maybe he left her because she would not. Judging by some of your profanity laced posts (yes I reviewed them) you are the last person that should be judging someones values and morality. Hypocrite a hol.

I loved Jesus Take the Wheel and I'm way older than Carrie. All sites have headlines to capture our interest and then you read the story. What are they talking about, no one was dissed.

I think Carrie is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. And she is "very" beautiful!
I hope she can hold on to herself through all of it.

Well she might have talent but as far as 'christian'....well I am just so sure God wants her singing and flashing her body all over like any other contemporary singer. everyone calls themselves christians now days. I thought christians were to set themselves a part from the world....hmmmmm....I am sure there will be alot out there justifying just about any behavior. shame really. too much 'sexual' undertones to claim she is a 'chritian'. But I am sure there are those of you out there that would swear that is what God is about. lol should be interesting.
go for it....I can take it.

I am probably one of the biggest carrie fans and i know for a fact that NONE of her songs have profanity in them, unusual for these days. She also stated that she isn't the type to live with a boyfriend and so much more. That also has to do with being christian. She is a great example for us all
Excuse me, but if I'm not mistaken, God created sex.
Just keep doing what your doing Carrie. Your doing fine in my book. Also I agree that when leaving a venue, it is the most lonely feeling. Best of luck too u.
