Carrie Underwood Bashes Tony Romo, Simon Cowell in Esquire

Carrie Underwood takes no prisoners in the latest issue of Esquire -- bashing everyone from 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell to her Dallas Cowboy's ex, Tony Romo. The 26-year-old country star reveals the honest truth about her life, why you'll never see her turn political and the harsh reality that "as you step off that stage, you're pretty much alone." Her initial feelings about flying to L.A. for 'American Idol': "I was so nervous when I was on my way to L. A. I'd never been on a plane, and I was going alone. I kind of got teary-eyed. My dad was driving, and he said, "If you want to go home, we can go home, and you never have to think about this again. And I thought, If I don't go, I'm choosing for this not to happen. It will be my choice. So I figured it would be easier for me to get kicked off American Idol than to have it be my own decision."

What she really thinks about Simon Cowell: "Simon's obviously very smart. But he's not the smartest person I know."

On whether 'Cowboy Casanova' is about her ex Tony Romo: "No. I would never immortalize a guy that did me wrong. I would never give him that much credit."

Her thoughts on tabloids: "People can take your words and make them into something awful and something you never meant it to be... It's hard to find people who don't want something from you."

Why she won't use her fame to influence politics: "Americans don't need Carrie Underwood telling them who to vote for. They're smarter than that."

The reality of fame she's faced: "When people think of what it's like to be famous, they think of the Ritz. But I've been in hotels where I will not take my shoes off. I will wear flip-flops in the shower. I've seen more basements of venues than I've seen of the United States. People think, 'Oh, you travel around, you get to see the country.' I've seen basements, I've seen concrete, I've seen pillars."

The "controversy" about her first single: "After I released 'Jesus, Take the Wheel,' people started saying, 'Oh, it's kind of risky. You're coming out with a religious song.' And I was thinking, 'Really?' I grew up in Oklahoma, I always had a close relationship with God. I never thought it was risky in the least. If anything, I thought it was the safest thing I could do."

Sensationalized headline, tired of hearing people talking about "God" but more tired of seeing tattoos. Not good- and ugly. Pretty sure God didn't design the ugly blue blothches on her body. Lost mucho respect for her seeing these pics. She should have kept her clothes on and her mouth shut- unless she treated her body more religiously!

Carrie did not bash anyone. Simon is not the smartest guy, and I wouldn't immortalize Romo either. She answered the questions, honestly I hope, what more do you want. I like her answer about politics, she's right, Americans don't need anyone to tell them how to vote, we are smarted than that. With this interview I respect Carrie even more.

I love how some of you are so judgemental(and I do mean Judge-MENTAL. Saying that she slept w/ someone out of marriage as if shes supposed to be perfect,and calling her "over rated"....? What a bunch of arrogant, self-righteous morons you are! Shes worked very hard to get where she is, and yet shes so down-to-earth. She should be respected for being what celebs should act like, as well as her wonderful voice and talents. And as far as the lady that said she "overheard" a conversation about a 3-way...? Get a life, and quit eavesdropping! You wouldve never heard it if you had been minding your business. But for argument sake...Do you really think that little of her to think that her goal was reached when some perv was talking about her being part of a 3-way?? Idiot!

She shouldn't be bashing anyone It's not the personal or professional thing to do. Simon Cowell was her biggest supporter. What's she thinking. Without AI and SC she would be nothing.
Romo didn't bash her so she should move on. Shes needs to apologize to them both.

In an entertainment world that has gone down the drain in terms of real talent, morality, values and product a person like Carrie Underwood is a real joy. This woman is a real lady, has values, talent, decorum and a highly moral point of view. In fact she stands out as one of only a handful of entertainers that I would ever pay to see perform. The others would be Michael Buble, Susan Boyle, Jane Monheit, Josh Groban and Hayley Westenra. The daily rantings and antics of venal hip hoppers, rappers, Hollywood floozies, and all the garbage on the E network (Kardashians, Lamas and Hefner's whores) is enough to turn your stomach and pull the plug on all TV.

For those of you who think Carrie slept with Romo, how do you know this? Were you in bed with them at the time? DOUBT IT!! You tabloid freaks are a piece of work. Men will lust about any woman no matter what she looks like or what she wears. Men fantasizing about a three-some is nothing new!!! Carrier's videos are done in good taste...even Cowboy Cassanova. She was "acting" a part. She doesn't dress on that off stage. You freaks need to get a life!!!!!!!!! I love Carrie's voice. At least she can sing.....unlike TAYLOR SWIFT. Taylor's off-key most of the time. Carrie reminds me of Martina McBride. Awesome.

If you all want my opinion about Carrie Underwiood, I just think that she sucks & that she reminds me of Leann Rimes after she started getting her fame back in '96. And now she's went thru boyfriend no.3 &I don't think that she can handle on having & keeping a boyfriend either. Also, I don't care about that show American Idol & I also think that it's a big joke & that the show is also rigged big time too. So, Underwood shouldn't have gotten any country music contracts & whatever else & the religion thing is also a joke too because everyone is being nothing but brainwashed too.

Carrie is just making a video,not trying to be sexy,but i love her video's. They are really cool. And what about Taylor, she says every song is about herself and if her boyfriends dont like it they shouldn't date her. Tacky! I wish country would get more christian songs. Some of these singers doing Rap,heavy metal etc. arn't helping the younger generation with all the sex and nasty talk. Reba is another great gal!

I really see no bashing either. She was asked a question and answered it honestly! Very refreshing for today I would say. Carrie has God given talent...love her music and she has a wonderful image. She is very humble, talented and sincere..things you don't find today in too many artists.
