Because the MTV Video Music Awards and the Grammys don't have a category for "Best Dance Moves By A Hot Young Blonde Artist", we at PopEater, always eager to fill a gap in expert analysis and accolades, have taken it upon ourselves to do our own review of this season's bombshell vids, Britney Spears, "3", Carrie Underwood's "Cowboy Casanova," and Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." Who moved the best? Who bored us to tears? And who managed to sauce it up?
Our expert analysis after the jump:
Britney Spears, "3"
Our experts agree that Britney's paean to the threesome is technically the dullest video of the three. "The choreography is nonexistent in this video. Britney looks weaker than her dancers," explains Andi McCormack, founder and artistic director of the Penny Lane Dance Academy LA and NY. "I found the movement to be lazy and unoriginal. Very uninspiring work with no artistry."
It's a tough call since Britney is historically the most talented dancer in this group. While this performance doesn't fall as flat as a certain 2007 MTV Video Music Awards debacle, fans continue to expect more out of Brit's moves.
"This is not Britney's finest hour. Please refer back to "I'm a Slave For You" for her better work," says Kelly Myernick, Houston Ballet First Soloist.
Carrie Underwood, "Cowboy Casanova"
Carrie has always tried to make country a little bit saucy and well, here she goes again. She may not move like a trained dancer, but Carrie always get an "E" for effort (warning: it may be because her dance moves remind us of our own back at all-girls Catholic High School).
"Carrie Underwood isn't necessarily moving the ball forward with choreography but at least it has a given purpose," explains, Lisa Niedermeyer, an independent NYC dance artist and a consultant for Movement Media.. "Her backup dancers are literally her posse in this video, they have her back as she confronts her "Cowboy Casanova" in the final duel. With them she has the strength to stand him down and best of all it looks like they all get a kick out of doing so."
At the end of the day Carrie is a singer first and a dancer about fifth. So even though she and her backup dancers make a valiant effort in "Cowboy" and the result is still a fun romp, stylistically she isn't adding anything to the dance oeuvre.
"To be fair Carrie is much more comfortable with the choreography when she has a mic in her hand (like at the CMT Awards performance of "Cowboy Casanova"). She is obviously a singer not a dancer. Her voice is straight forward, sassy and big but her movement/choreography is not," Niedermeyer says.
Lady Gaga, "Bad Romance"
Gaga brings it with her red carpet scare-wear and she definitely brings it in "Bad Romance." The Lady is always revving it at 100 miles per hour so that anything she puts out there turns into a miniature masterpiece.
"Now here's an artist. A true diva. Pushing concepts and ideas into areas that get us excited and keep us entertained," McCormack says. "The Lady moves well and sells it hard. A slight Euro feel to the choreography and staccato moves leave you feeling like you need a shower, I love it. Bridge section in red was unexpected and well done. Can't wait to see girls clawing at the club to this one!"
Choreographically Gaga may not be that innovative, but because she is willing to try anything she makes fans want to shake their own bootees with this video.
"What she's doing is letting us bring our own freaky style to the dances we already know. The 'Bad Romance' video gives us the Charleston, the twist, the hand jive, some vogue-ing, some Flash Dance (maybe some Jane Fonda), and some 'Thriller'. . . just to name a few," Myernick says
The cool thing about Brit's video is that she plays it off very cool and effortless. Her dances definitely bring it to the floor but she's being coy and naughty which def revs people up when they watch the video. It's less about the performance and more about the coy seduction.
What a shallow thought. It is not about moves, but about the person. I hope Carrie stays true to her values so that she will not end up where others have gone. Believe you me it is not worth it,,Just look at some of them. What a sad road to go down.
why are these 3 singers trying to look the sexiest? Can't they make it on the talent which is suposably singing? This is pathetic and teaching kids age 2 and up to try to be sexy...I won't vote for any of them..I want a person to be decent and talented, not disgustingly pronographic.!
Britney Spears is borderline porn, Lady GaGa is a FREAK, and Carrie Underwood can sing circles around both of them at the same time. I love Carrie. I'm not even a country music fan, but I WILL listen to Carrie--She ROCKS!!! I, too, think Lady GaGa is a man. I've always thought that.
Carrie can at least sing, however, singing and dancing none of them are great. They all need to go back and take a good long look at the long time singing and dancing women in entertainment.
This shouldn't be about dancing moves. Carrie is by far, the best singer and in my personal opinion, the sexiest of the three, hands down. Britney can't seem to do a show without her lip synching routime, and Gaga I'm sorry to say, is just a freak show. I think that if Gaga lost the freakishly hottible costumes and idiotic theatrics, she could climb the ladder of stardome much faster. She has a nice body, but a face for radio, and that is why she seems to like her masks so much, but her singing is pretty darn good and her keyboards are fantastic. Brit, I am sorry to say was something when younger, but since her nut spree, just has no appeal at all. As fo Carrie, she is beautiful, sings perfectly, and keeps her moves inside normal territory. Now THAT is star power.
Carrie Underwood is a LADY! As a mother of a 10 year old daughter, I will not let her listen to "3" or "Love Game" She is too young to know about a threesome, and a disco stick. Thank you Carrie, and also to her parents for bringing her up the right way.
I think Carrie could dance better if her shoes weren't so high. I think Lady Gaga is a man too. I hate to see Carrie's named mentioned with the other two.
Carrie has more talents then all them. She is pretty, sweet, sexy lady and a TRUE LADY. Not like Lady Gaga and Poor Britney. All I can say about Lady GAGA is...well, she has to do here new/old punk new wave look. Gang look at a group from the 1980's called Missing Persons. Dale Bosio was her name....I know 20 years ago. But, her whole act is based on Dale Bosio. Britney was a cute girl from Disney. But, I think she was exploited like a porn queen. I think her days are numbered as an entertainer.
I love Gaga's dancing...she interprets the song and the moves and gives them emphasis. Gaga's video of Bad Romance is one of the best videos of the decade. It is truly an amazing piece of work. Brintey is a lazy dancer who sleepwalks through her videos and performances. She is very boring, and has been for quite sometime (even during her peak). She relies too heavily on her back up dancers to cover for her. Carrie has a lot of talent, but not for dancing. I think she is great at what she does, though, so more power to her.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

I agree to EVERYTHING you said...100% I've thought Gaga was a man since the first time I saw "it".
Youtube "vintage lady gaga live at nyu" and try to make that statement again. Lady Gaga has more natural talent than anyone out there.
