Though neither star has confirmed, multiple sources are convinced Jessica Simpson and Billy Corgan are officially dating. The unlikely couple -- pop star and Smashing Pumpkin -- were spotted together in New York City last Friday and have actually known each other for months. So ...

A source tells PEOPLE the duo "are getting to know each other" while another insider tells EOnline.com that the 29-year-old singer is "smitten" and "has fallen hard" for the bald-topped rocker, 42.

Whether they're dating, collaborating on music or discussing Corgan's new passion for spirituality, another friend believes Simpson "deserves the best." Both are prolific sharers on Twitter, but alas -- nary a peep on this possible relationship.

She has laid low on the dating scene since getting dumped by Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo the night before her 29th birthday over the summer. Despite that, she has continued to speak kindly of Romo and often Tweets about her beloved Cowboys.

Corgan was recently rumored to be dating reality TV star Tila Tequila, who this week announced she is engaged to Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson.

As much as I love Jessica-(and can't see why anyone wouldn't)-, she has a problem with men: a desperate need to have somebody with her all the time. Since there haven't been any "ordinary" guys in her life for many years, only second-rate celebrity types are available-and more the pity. Apparently I'm not as discerning as the guy suggesting singing lessons, because although her voice isn't great, neither is it as bad as some "critics" make out.

Hopefully both of them will act just like two people dating and keep things simple and normal. Tell the public to butt out and the photgraphers to go jump in a lake/river. This is not about staging but about getting to know each other and having a regular normal life. Good luck to them if they are dating.

If she would forcus on improving her singing, acting and doing charity work than her dating skills she would be a maga star. It still really shock me that a female is more popular who she is or would open her legs for than her skills/talent.

Jessica Simpson has NOT been news since she decided "maybe COUNTRY music will help me sell a few CDs." NO ONE CARES MISS SIMPSON! And the funny thing. When Christina / Britney and Jessica all came out, I thought Jessica had the most vocal ability. OH WELL!

Yikes! I have to agree with whoever said Jessica's tah tahs were like an old lady's. While Jessica seems sweet, I think her gaining and then losing the weight caused her boobies to be droopy. So sad for a 29 year old. Heck, I'm in my 50's and mine are more perkier and higher than hers are! I DO think she's a good singer and very pretty.

She's obviously not taking care of herself at all! Tanning to much is turning her skin leathery! She looks Old and worn out! She needs a long Spa stay to focused on herself and not pleasing Men!
