That sobbing you hear is every hip kid on the planet reacting to the Flight of the Conchords' decision on Thursday to retire their cult HBO series. Stars Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, who were nominated for two Emmys last year, told fans on their Web site: "The less we say about the future of the show, the more people want to talk about it. So in an effort to reverse this trend we are today announcing that we won't be returning for a third season."We'll miss the fake Bret and Jemaine and their naive-but-sweet New Zealand charm. But especially, we'll miss the quirky musical numbers that peppered each episode. Some of our fave moments during the two-season run:

Waaahhhh, I am so going to miss them! It was the best show ever! I saw them on tour in April and I laughed my head off! Another great show bites the dust....back to crappy TV!

painfully unfunny show. I'm surprised it lasted this long.

All I can say is thank you what a waste of a half hour.

How does it waste a half hour for you every week unless you watched it? Do you have nothing better to do?
I'm glad they're quitting while they're ahead. This show was wicked, and I look forward to more from them.

U fools who couldn't get the humor r losers. These guys are beyond funny & greatly talented. What a shame. I hope it's a hoax.

I love these guys. Most people just don't "get" their humor. It's just over their heads. Their songs are hysterically funny, and the skits are very sharp. It's not a formula show, and it's not for all, but for me, I sure will miss them sweet lil sugarlumps.

Very funny show - great songs, terrific scripts...will certainly miss their "agent" and "#1 Fan"...too bad they've decided to call it quits, but maybe it's better than struggling to continue the quality they had! Ciao!

Uh, it wasn't cancelled. The actors chose to end it. There's a huge difference. HBO was very keen to have them return.
I'm really sorry you didn't get the humour. Sometimes subtlety is hard for people. I guess you like snappy one-liners and laugh tracks, right? Each to their own.
