Even if you haven't watched a second of MTV's hot and sweaty new reality show 'Jersey Shore,' you've probably heard about the "Snooki Punch." It might just be the finest right hook captured by MTV's cameras since Spencer knocked that Cameron kid out on 'The Hills' earlier this year. But if you haven't seen the sucker-punch yet, you might not get your chance. On Friday, MTV pulled the footage from upcoming episode number 4. That doesn't mean you can't learn all about the nasty boy-on-girl assault. In fact, you can still see it...You didn't need to watch episode 1, 2 or 3 of MTV's smash hit 'Jersey Shore,' to see the guido punch heard 'round the blogosphere. The clip, in which cast member Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi gets brutally sucker punched by a man standing at the bar at Seaside Heights' Beachcomber Bar & Grill, was shown in promo materials and previews following the first few episodes. it was due to appear in episode 4 this Thursday. But an outcry from fans and anti-abuse organizations has forced MTV to pull the punch. On Friday MTV released a statement which included the following excerpt:
What happened to "Snooki" was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing. After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context to not show the severity of this act or the resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in next week's episode. The show will still make it clear what events transpired, including the full aftermath.
The aftermath includes the arrest of assailant Brad Ferro, a 24-year-old gym teacher at a Queens high school, who was booked on charges of assault and disorderly conduct following the August 19 early morning beat-down. Ferro is currently suspended from work and serving probation. According to the New York Post, Snooki, who gave the gym teacher lip after he tried to snatch her drink, "sustained an injury to the inside of her mouth due to the punch." From the look of the wallop, she's lucky the injury wasn't more severe. Perhaps most disturbing is that Ferro continued to work at North Queens Community High School for several months following the attack. Because the assault occurred in another state, New York Education Dept. officials weren't informed of the arrest until recently.
As reprehensible as the punch might seem, Snooki was able to see the silver lining of the incident. "A positive came out of it. It definitely brought us closer together. It definitely brought us together as a family. We have each other's backs and it was a positive," Snooki told PEOPLE. "The first couple of episodes, [Snooki] didn't fit in and when that happened, we thought, 'That's not cool. You should never touch a girl, in that way, no matter what!' That brought the group together in a way that we cannot describe," fellow 'Shore'-goer Mike, a.k.a. The Situation, said. Pauly D added, "It should never have happened, but the thing is, it brought the whole house together as a family. I felt like Snooki was my sister. I met her, we weren't close, but something bad happened to her and it brought us closer together."
Since airing on December 3, the MTV reality show which crams young, buff, Italian party animals (with requisite awesome nicknames) into a Seaside Heights home on the Jersey Shore has been kicking ratings ass. The show doubled its audience from night one to night two on the strength of a heavy dose of positive word-of-mouth buzz. Facebook was swamped with status updates plastering quotes like The Situation's "My abs are so ripped up, I call it 'The Situation,'" or a similar boast made in the third-person. And now the success might be getting to the cast's heads. Snooki told Usmagazine.com on Saturday, "We are better than 'The Hills.'" Jenni "J-WOWW" Farley concurred. "We are not fake," she said at Spike's Video Game Awards. "We tell everyone how we feel." And how does J-WOWW feel? "It's my mission to hook up with the hottest Jersey Guido," she says in episode 1. You can catch the whole gang in episode 4 this Thursday at 10 PM ET.

It really bothers me that a show featuring such obnoxious self-centered people would be so popular. Don't want to see them on TV, and sure as hell wouldn't want to be in the same room with them.

She has a look which deserved what she got!
The Mutt girl looks nasty to begin with.
But then again, these types of shows only obtain
the seediest of the human race.

All the worthless females on these stupid MTV shows need a much bigger and painful punch in the face, and the jerky boys for that matter. The parents that let their children watch this mindless dribble need to be punched also. It's a shame that these people are somehow looked up to and deemed important by our youth.

MTV could not care less what morals they are bringing into people homes on a daily basis. All of their TV shows belong in the trash can. Now they want to have morals? MTV is probably responsible for every kid who has a STD! Go back to the music. By the way. I lived at the Jersey shore and this show is a bunch of bull. They know they are on TV and push the limits. Their parents should be shamed of themselves.

The Show served one purpose, now I can crosss South Jersey off my list of places to visit. These are really pretty low life people and who really cares about any of them. This is like the building of a whore show.

It is kinda refreshing to say the least. Kids today are more mouthy and out of control than ever. If the guy accidentally grabbed her drink and she started running her mouth at a stranger she deserved to have mouth punched. Good grief, I shudder at what would have happened to me if I was rude like that to somebody when i was growing up.

I've never heard of the show but I wouldn't want to watch a reality show featuring (people from) New Jersey anyway. I do wanna see the smack down though.

how many of the cast members' family members beat their wives girlfriends mistresses over the generations.....its part of them....like their obsession with cologne and hair products etc

For those Italians saying that they aren't Latin, you need to re-educate yourself because the category Latin doesn't just apply to "Hispanics". It refers to language and history therefore Italians are LATIN! DUH! My son's father is Italian descent & I have been to Italy and I'm educated so I KNOW what I am talking about. I can't believe I am wasting time posting this but I am sooo tired of our dumb & prejudiced Americans. No wonder our country is going downhill. Wake up, people!

OMG... I grew up here. Spent my summers doing what these guys do.. have the same ethnic background... And frankly, these kids ARE the Jersey Shore. And Bayonne. And Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst and a whole bunch of other places in the tri-state area. They act like that cause they're young and arrogant and think they're immortal lol. They'll mellow out with age, and stop acting rash and silly. They'll grow up eventually. And meanwhile, the rest of us can watch and reminisce.
