One of the most persistent internet rumors about 'The Hangover' is that director Todd Phillips wanted to use a real stunner during the hilarious taser-scene in last year's smash hit comedy. So on the eve of the DVD release, PopEater sought out the actual man holding the stun gun -- comedian, beer-spokesman and the film's over-the-top cop Rob Riggle.
Riggle says the rumor started on the set of the movie. "I heard the same thing that Phillips was flirting with the idea of using a real taser," Riggle tells PopEater. "I was like, 'Umm, yeah. I'm not sure if that's going to work so great.'"
The scene did work great in the end, but Riggle knows he jabbed a fake into Ed Helm's neck on the set and then watched as Bradley Cooper took a fake-shot in the crotch and Zach Galifianakis got his in the face. "Safety was never in question," he says chalking up the pained expressions to "amazing actors."
"We just did it up. I might have given it a little extra juice," he says. Only acting of course, not electrical.

Riggle says he was going to seek director Phillips out at the DVD release party in Las Vegas and ask about the rumor once and for all. He does know the joyous look on the school children's face during the scene as the adults flailed in pain was 100 percent real. "The kids were loving it," says Riggle. "It was seeing adults acting all goofy and funny like that."
Even though he's a U.S. Marine, Riggle has never tased or been on the other end of the humbling jolts. (Okay there was one close call at a street party, but he moved along quickly). Yet, speaking from a Las Vegas hotel, he can still dream of using one.
"I don't even know where I'd begin," he says speaking of his dream taser target. "The list would be so long. Idiot celebrities, people in traffic. And that guy that just farted in the elevator." People, be warned.
