Just weeks before Jake Gyllenhaal was planning to propose to Reese Witherspoon (which we previously reported), PopEater's Rob Shuter has learned exclusively that the couple have split. A source close to the couple says that the Hollywood duo had reached that ever-trying breaking point in their relationship, leading to their break-up."The relationship was at the point where they either got engaged or broke up," a friend of Jake's tells me. "There is no doubt that they love each other very much, but Reese wasn't ready to say 'I do.' And if she wasn't ready after two years of dating, Jake wondered if she ever would be."
Both are said to be devastated by the split, and although friends hope for them to get back together, most agree it's very doubtful.
Reps have not returned calls for comment as of yet.

I've never got so much as a blip on the "gaydar" from Jake Gyllenhaal, so I have to disagree. It's not like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes where it is BEYOND obvious that he's queer.
She has 2 children, my hope is that things work out in whatever way is best for the kids. They have already been thru a break up with the parents, they don't need to see their mom sad again.
You are an idiot - just because Jake played a gay man, doesn't make him a gay man...
I am sure that some gay guy is going to go with a women or 2 years to make him look straight. They were in love and it didn't work out not because Jake was gay it just didn't work it....

ya okay and Life and Style Magazine also reported this and they also reported that so many other "believeable stories" NOT!!!! I believe Reese and Ryan are in ove and are happy and will be seen together next week and everyone will report oh they are back together again even know they never broke up in the first lace just like it was two weeks ago. Give me a break and just leave people alone and actually report news when you have the actual facts and not just gossip and rumors.
