Sarah Jessica Parker 'Didn't Want Twins'

Having twins wasn't in the game plan for
Sarah Jessica Parker and
Matthew Broderick when they decided to expand their family, but that's what they got. Big time. The 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?' star
tells PopEater all about the thrills, challenges and namely the whopper that came with the arrival of twin daughters Marion and Tabitha (via surrogate) in June.
"We didn't want twins but we wanted a bigger family and this is what we got," she says, bluntly, before giving us a taste of the "military operation" that it takes to manage three young children (son James is 7).
Your new movie is a fish out of a water story. Do you like being placed in unlikely situations?
I relish the idea of being in a different place. We travel a lot as a family. We go to places that are very different from what we know. That's what we want. We really like going to places where we are in the minority. Where we are fish out of water. I'm not afraid of it at all.
Have you traveled with the twins yet?
No, they actually can't right now because of H1N1. They're too young to get the shots.
When I see people in the street with twins I don't know how they get out of their apartment.
Honestly it's funny. It's comedic. There is so much organization and advance planning that happens. It's like a military operation. Plus we have a seven year old and he has needs too though they're different. The bag is lighter.
Are you amazed at the difference between one kid and twins?
I really am. There is no sugar coating it. It's wonderful. We didn't want twins but we wanted a bigger family and this is what we got. It's a blessing, it's a thrill, it's a privilege but it couldn't be more different. I mean one is daunting in the beginning with all the paraphernalia. It's shocking. The diapers, the ointment, the bottle, the pacifier, the baby blanket, plastic bags so you're not leaving a dirty diaper at someone's house or a restaurant, God forbid, wipes, baby Tylenol. The list goes on and you need it all, it's not a joke. (Pause). Times two.

How does anybody sleep?
We are on a schedule otherwise you'd be either feeding or changing 24 hours.
How different are their personalities?
Different as they could be in every way. It's good for them that they will be their own person. I think it's lucky.
So you worked with Hugh Grant, a bear and guns.
I will do anything with Hugh for the rest of my life. Swing from trees, whatever. I luckily had very little interaction with the bear; I was safely behind a screen door. I hated the guns. It wasn't something I wanted to write in my journal about, not that I have a journal.
Was it the first time you've shot a gun?
No, perhaps you'll recall I was in a terrific film called 'Striking Distance' with Bruce Willis. It was bizarre that I was in it. I don't know why they cast me. I didn't like firing a gun anymore this time around. I was less awful about it on this movie because it wasn't that serious. In 'Striking Distance' I was supposed to look like I had intentions.
What's your favorite thing about New York City?
I love the sights and smells and sounds of a city. I always have. I love sitting on my stoop and watching people go by.
You can't sit on your stoop now, can you?
I can. I back up way deep into the doorway. Sometimes people recognize me and you lose the ability for a few minutes and then you come back out and start again.

I would not have admitted that to anyone it is classless to say some things aloud those poor babies. I have twins and a child that was much younger than SJP's son is now when my twins were born yes it is a lot of work but always a work of love and joy!

Simply put....THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!

Oh poor Sarah Jessica! Has to do so much work taking care of her twins! What a horrible thing to say that she didn't want twins. Sounds like she's not happy being "tied down" with two babies. How selfish!!

Was she worried she was going to have to buy more oat bags?

A fan says the mole was SJP's trademark. Response: I thought my brain was my trademark." Not so much.
And when your twins google you, SJP, they will be glad to know you didn't "want" them. What a poor choice of words. Maybe you could have said that you hadn't considered the possibility of twins, instead? Hopefully, that was the intent of the "didn't want" remark. And finally, the genius remark, "It's good for them that they will be their own person." Are they individuals? How might you have indicated that? That signature brain must be pretty sleep-deprived now that there are 3 kids for whom to strategically plan.

Oh God People. What she meant was they werent trying to have twins. Some celebs go for that thing and she was stating she wasnt one of them. Good Luck SJP

My son was 23 months old when my twin girls were born. Busy, hectic, but I wouldn't change any of it. The twins are 43 now and one of them has twins. They are the joys of our lives.

I don't think it's that they don't want them I think it's that they didn't expect twins. One child is hard enough. I couldn't imagine having 2 at the same time. I think she is just overwhelmed and that it came out the wrong way!!

You people that have negative remarks...keep them to yourselves.Oat bags...you are a wretched human being! Have you ever worked all day and had to worry about your appearance as well as take care of three children? She is a working mother that doesn't have the luxury of weighing 200 pounds! She hardly looks like a woman that needs an oat bag! You people are cruel and miserable human beings.
Most people do not dream of having twins! That is not to say that she does not adore her girls.Grow the hell up and keep your misery to yourselves!
