Fans and friends were shocked by the untimely death of actress Brittany Murphy on Sunday morning. The 'Clueless' and 'Girl, Interrupted' actress went into full cardiac arrest, and paramedics were unable to revive her. Fans and friends were shocked by the untimely death of actress Brittany Murphy on Sunday morning. The 'Clueless' and 'Girl, Interrupted' actress went into full cardiac arrest, and paramedics were unable to revive her. Murphy, 32, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and LA County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told the press Sunday evening that the tragedy was likely the result of natural causes, reports Access Hollywood.Capt. John Kades of the coroner's office says, "Foul play is not suspected at this time because there were no outward signs of trauma or other injuries," according to PEOPLE.
Some colleagues were concerned about Murphy weeks before her death. The actress showed up for the for the opening of Tt Collection's Pop-Up shop in LA, looking rail thin. Reports that she'd been let go from a film shooting for disrupting the set were denied by her rep, who claimed, "She was not nor has she ever been fired from any job big or small ... [Due] to creative differences Ms. Murphy and the production mutually parted ways."
The director of Murphy's 2008 project 'Across the Hall,' Alex Merkin, said that the actress was always professional but acknowledged she'd been dealing with personal issues. "I just remember she was going through a lot at the time surrounding her husband being in the hospital."
Sources claim that Murphy herself didn't cause the disruption on set - husband of two years, Simon Monjack did. ""Monjack came on the set inebriated," 'Shrinking Charlotte' director Michael Z Gordon told The Hollywood Reporter. "The producers wanted to keep him away. Brittany of course defended him. And so she was let go."
TMZ reports that the actress had experienced flu-like symptoms in the days leading to her death, and that Murphy was seriously ill a few hours before she collapsed. Sources told the website that Murphy began vomiting early Sunday morning. The sources also claimed that authorities found no illegal drugs in Murphy's home, but it is apparent that the actress was taking some prescription medications. After the 911 call, Murphy's mother Sharon told paramedics her daughter was diabetic.
Witnesses told TMZ that Murphy's husband told hospital staff that he did not want an autopsy performed on his wife. However, as part of the coroner's investigation, a pending autopsy has been confirmed.
"We don't have an autopsy scheduled yet, but we will do it as soon as possible," Kades said. "Given all the worldwide attention, if we can get it done [Monday], we will."
"The sudden loss of our beloved Brittany is a terrible tragedy," Murphy's family said in a statement. "She was our daughter, our wife, our love and a shining star. We ask you to respect our privacy at this time."
Murphy made her big splash in Hollywood in 1995's 'Clueless,' in which she played the ditzy character Tai. She went on to co-star in popular films like 'Girl, Interrupted' with Angelina Jolie and '8 Mile,' where she played Eminem's love interest. She was also the voice of Luanne Platter for more than 230 episodes of the popular Fox cartoon sitcom 'King of the Hill.'
Aside from acting, Murphy also dabbled in music occasionally. In 2006, she scored a hit by pairing up with DJ Paul Oakenfold on the song 'Faster Kill Pussycat,' which became a club staple. She also covered two songs -- including Queen's 'Somebody to Love' -- in the animated movie 'Happy Feet.'
Ashton Kutcher, who shared the screen with Murphy in 2003's 'Just Married' and also dated her, spoke out on his Twitter to remember his friend. "See you on the other side kid ... 2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon," Kutcher wrote. I have a cousin who died at the age of 19 of cardiac arrest...but it wasn't right before the holidays that makes it rough, being young doesn't make it unusual, just harder to bear. Her talent will be missed. My blessing goes out to the family.
If she had type 2 diabetes, then all her symptoms fit with ketoacidosis, a condition in which flu-like symptoms occur, then you start vomiting, your blood sugar skyrockets and you die if you don't seek help. It sounds like she wasn't taking her medication or she wasn't taking enough. One doesn't have to be overweight & sedentary to develop type 2 diabetes. Just look at Halle Berry. RIP Brittany...
It could be a bad case of mixing flu drugs, diabetic drugs and any other drugs she needed to take. I had never been so sadden to hear of a death as Brittany. I watched and loved all her movies. An Amazing actress who can bring a smile to light up the earth. My heart go's out to her family and loved one's. She will be so very missed!

Nobody, unless you already have a serious disease, dies at 32 from 'natural causes.' Total BS. The girl lost a lot of weight over the years and you always have to consider drug use as a contributory cause.

She had diabetes, which is life threatening if not treated properly.
You're an IDIOT, you can die of natural causes at any age.... My grandfather was 39 when he died of a heart attack, and my dad was 49 when he died of a heart attack.. Not everyone in acting acts like Lindsey, Paris Brit Spears...
A lot of people are thin because they are diabetic. Being too thin will cause certain organs to fail...including the heart.
I had a relative that died from a heartattack which the coronor ruled as natural at the age of 30, so yes you can die at the age of 32 from natural death.
There are NUMEROUS incidents of young athletes, from high school to college and into the early years of the pros, dropping dead from undiagnosed congenital (ie, from birth) heart defects. These individuals have had numerous physicals which missed the deadly defect. Also, anyone at any age can have an unusual arrhythmia which could be fatal. Lastly, if she was vomiting due to illness, that could have altered her electrolytes, especially her potassium, causing a fatal arrhythmia. Also, her mother reported that she had diabetes. Given her age and her size, most likely Type I, which can cause a fatal heart attack. So, could be an undiagnosed problem, an unusual abnormal rhythm that is "just one of those things," or a sequelae of her diabetes. Also, given her appearance, she looks as though she may have had an eating disorder, which could result in heart attack. All of those are natural causes. Yes, drugs are a possibility, but let's not besmirch her good name until there is a reason to. Let's wait for the autopsy report, and in the meantime, pray for her soul to rest, and for her family to have strength and peace.

The husband has requested no autopsy...that seems a bit fishy to me. There HAS to be something else to this!

It's suspicious that her husband did not want an autopsy. There have been plenty of cases where the husband has injected the wife while sleeping or placed poison in drinks, etc...that would cause cardiac arrest.

I agree, if she had a history of some kind of illness, she just wouldn't drop dead at 32 unless her death was drug-related or due to anorexia. And why would she have to quit a movie she was doing because of her husband, who btw was no looker. But not wanting an autopsy done does sound fishy.
brittney was one of my favorites,my heart goes out to her family..i don't no why she died but we will soon find out why..my she rest in peace...but for the record her husband is jewish and they don't believe in autopsy..(but he does look shady to me).
Yes a 30 something person CAN die this way....I should know my best friend for over 20 years died at 36 last year ~ Totally unexpectedly. Made me realize how we are all not garenteed a tomorrow. God bless the Murphy family.

Such a Tragedy!! Whatever way she died it is NOT right for a woman of her age. Something is amiss here that really needs to be investigated to find the real TRUTH !! I will really miss LuAnne from "King of the Hill". She was a Great Actress and will truly miss her. They will probably make a Movie about her life Now !!!!!

It just appears to me since her weight loss, she might of had a eating disorder. Which could send anyone, no matter what the age into cardiac arrest. These poor young girls, either starve themselves or take laxatives, and it really does so much damage to the heart. This is how Karen Carpeter died..It is such a horrible illness..So sorry to hear this sad news. She was so beautiful. May she rest in peace.
It's a tragedy that she died so young. But what would really be a tragedy is if it turns out to be drug-related. Because what would be sad and ironic is that her death then would almost mirror the death of her character in 'Girl Interrupted'.
