Carrie Underwood Engaged to Mike Fisher

'Before He Cheats' singer Carrie Underwood may seem cynical in her music, but the 'American Idol' winner is lucky in love; Underwood and her hockey player boyfriend are engaged. The Ottawa Sun spilled the good news moments after Mike Fisher spoke to reporters at an Ottawa Senators game. "It's true," said Fisher. "We're both obviously excited and very happy."

Fisher's teammate Chris Neil admitted he already knew the big news, adding, "I think it's great. It's a long time coming. There's going to be a lot of broken hearts in Ottawa with all those girls who are in love with Mikey."

"I'm happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn't be happier," her rep told PEOPLE. "No wedding date has been set at this time."

Underwood, 26, and Fisher have kept details of their relationship private, though Underwood called out their romance in the liner notes of her latest album 'Play On.' "I love you so much!" she wrote to Fisher. "You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day."

Fisher, 29, proposed to Underwood Sunday, after the couple had dated for a year.

Actually Leroy, I only recall her dating Tony Romo and that dude from Britain. I'm baffled though, why a hockey player from Ottawa.

Congratulations from a small town farm girl who worked hard and made it not only in music but in love. With our world in the shape it's in, and the economy the way it is, what a blessing to see happiness. Good Luck to Carrie and Mike and may they have a long long marriage. In this day and time, it's hard to do. I hope they both stay true to each other and have a happy home. She has good values and good sense. I'm sure he is Mr. Right. I'm glad she is no longer heart broken over Tony. We need a little sunshine in the news... and that sunshine is Carrie!

Let's see...dating for less than a year, long distance relationship, two busy careers on the road. I give it 18 months as a long shot...they will never see each other unless one of them quits their job.

How does anybody know if she is "nice?" Unless you know her personally, you don't know that at ALL. She puts on a good face for the public, but look at some of the celebs that also do that and have turned out to be not so nice. We don't KNOW any of these people even if we like their music, acting, how much they give to charity, or their athletic ability. What goes on behind closed doors? NO ONE KNOWS. Wish people would stop acting like they do.

I am worried he knows she is a gold mine! I hope I am wrong. And yes, dating a year, but you really have to count the actual days in the same exact town...that's how long they have been together according to some psychologists.

You are right Jody. I've seen Carrie at two of his games, but I havent heard about him being at any of her concerts. They MIGHT have been in the same town at the same time for less than 6 months. That's pretty scary in my opinion. I think they are in "lust" right now...and hope they have a LONG engagement. Why rush to the alter?

As much as we wish Carrie and "Mr.Right" all the best, I really wish she would not do this. It is clear that show and sports business marriages do not last. The tabloids are littered with the destroyed lives of the Hollywood types as well as the music industry who jump from one bad marriage to another. I fear it just won't last.
Good luck Carrie, you'll need it.

The only reason you have the first post is because, unlike you, we have actual lives and don't live in front of a monitor 24/7.

I am happy for Mike and Carrie, Mike makes great money as a NHL star, so he's not after her money, to all those who might think so, the picture you see if him during a hockey game, so if you saw him dressed up, you'd know what she sees in him, of course she also can see what's inside, and he's a fantastic person, both of them are Christians, and that in itself, will ensure that their marriage will last.
