Brittany Murphy's Husband: 'My World Was Destroyed'
One day after the shocking, untimely death of his 32-year-old wife
Brittany Murphy, writer/producer
Simon Monjack spoke about the tragic Sunday his life was turned upside down.
"My world was destroyed yesterday," Monjack told Access Hollywood. Monjack also discussed his wife's last moments and whether Brittany was controlled by bad influences.
Full story after the jump.
Monjack claimed the day of Murphy's death began as "a regular day," but tragedy struck quickly, when Murphy was alone in her bathroom.
"[Her mother] Sharon went into the bathroom because she had been in there a long time," Monjack explained. "Her mom screamed for me and I ran. Then called 911."
The 'Clueless' and 'Girl, Interrupted' actress went into full cardiac arrest, and paramedics were unable to revive her. Murphy was pronounced dead upon arrival at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles
. TMZ reported Monday that the actress had experienced flu-like symptoms in the days leading to her death, and that Murphy was seriously ill a few hours before she collapsed.
"She had laryngitis," Monjack told Access Hollywood, confirming that his wife had seen a doctor. "She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies."
Monjack admitted that some things he's read in the wake of Murphy's passing have been more comforting than others. "I loved what Ashton [Kutcher] wrote on Twitter," Monjack said, referring to a message posted by Murphy's 'Just Married' co-star reading: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine."
"I couldn't have said it better," Monjack said.
Meanwhile, some media outlets have suggested that Monjack was not a positive influence in Murphy's life. Monjack said his wife was not linked to anyone he'd consider a bad influence, insisting "I don't know why anyone would think that. She found love. We found love. Brittany didn't get to where Brittany was with anyone controlling her... Brittany was Brittany."
The LA County coronor's office are investigating the death of the actress, though no foul play is suggested. Initial reports show a strong possibility of death from natural causes. The results of an autopsy completed Monday will not be available for weeks, and the cause of death will not be released until the toxicology report is concluded.

The world definately lost a good one on Sunday. Brittany Murphy was mine and my daughter's favorite actress. We loved her best in Uptown Girls with Dakota Fanning. My prayers go out to her family and her husband as they go through this terrible loss during the holiday season.
God Bless all of You
I agree! This is just so sad!
Monjack said his wife was not linked to anyone he'd consider a bad influence.

So So So... heart breaking... reminds me of what happened to Karen Carpenter...being in the music field..I totally understand..and I am right there with her.. if your not thin you wont get the job.. its as plain as that..when I was "chunky" 130 lbs at 5'9 inches.. I was told to loose 5 lbs..trust me..the only way that was going to happen was if i had some bones removed.. but...I actually tried..to..thats what happens..when your in the public eye..she probably saw what happened to all the other women getting ripped apart by the media..sarah michelle geller..etc.. its really sooo sad ..I feel so bad for her husband..hes left..to live with that beautiful memory of such a shining star..she will be missed..greatly..

This is so true in the world we live in. It is what you look like. These women are beleiving all the lies told to them. I know I was one of those women when I was in my 30's. If I were thinner, my husband would love me more, or just love me, he use to count my calories, and I just got to the point that I could not eat. Guess what? No matter what I did, or looked liked, nothing ever changed. It was never about me. It is always about others insecurities. I want to know someone's heart first. How sad is this, that we women have to look a certain way to please, or feel if I looked like her I could get him. Duh!!!!! Such a big lie. May she rest in peace. It is not how many people I have loved, its how many people loved me. She was loved.
your- possessive pronoun. That is your mistake.
you're- contraction. You're going to learn English.
Totally agree; first thing I thought of also. Anorexia = cardiac arrest. Dangerous stuff.
Grammer is an important point--there are two many people who just can't be bothered to speak or write at a fifth grade level but think they know everything. It is this kind of attitude that gave us eight disastrous years of George Bush. It speaks to your intelligence and your willingness to learn and act appropriately.
Your exactly right and look at the way they are making woman's clothes. Even the mediums and larges are tiny. There is way too much pressure on girls these days to be skinny. When they already are beautiful i just don't get it. And ED's aren't understood at all and people don't realize the damage that they can inflict. If anyone on this site has ever even thought about it just stop it will ruin your life and you won't recover from it.
Avice - you have just proven your ignorance and the stupidity of all of your statements.
TO attack George W. Bush, a far better person and president than that treasonous moron BHO - and calling voters stupid, while also attacking other posters "GRAMMER" (sic), makes it clear you are a fool.
The word is GRAMMAR and the moron is BHO. (and apparantly um, you?)
I agree with you JoAnna Marie..I noticed how she got so thin since making "Clueless" and was hoping the pressure in hollywood wouldn't make her end up another Karen Carpenter case, it made me think of Karen when Brittany passed@ such a young age. Rest In Peace sweet angel and my prayers go out to your family and friends.
Hey Avice,
How many people?
This is so sad, our prayers and condolences go out to the family. She was a ray of sunshine, and we will never forget her bubbly attitude.

I totally agree women are killing themselves for looks and at the end that does nothing...men prefer money over beauty ..not always but most times...see Eddie Cibriani leaving such a beautiful wife for a rich one...
