Carrie Underwood Shows Off Her Ice at Hockey Game

Carrie Underwood proudly showed off her engagement ring to a friend while watching freshly minted fiance Mike Fisher play hockey in Ottawa Monday night. The massive rock, which seems to have put both the singer and her wine-having friend into a trance, is a brand-new addition to Underwood's hand.

As we reported on Monday, Fisher proposed to the 'Before He Cheats' beauty on Sunday. "I'm happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn't be happier," her rep said. "No wedding date has been set at this time."

Underwood, 26, and Fisher, 29, have kept details of their relationship private, though Underwood called out their romance in the liner notes of her latest album 'Play On.' "I love you so much!" she wrote to Fisher. "You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day."

Fisher plays for the Ottawa Senators.

Congratulations to the Happy Couple! But Carrie, Sweetie, listen to me for just a minute. Sometimes things don't work out the way we plan, but no matter how bad things get... don't break up with this guy. If a woman breaks the engagement, she has to give back the ring, but if a guy breaks the engagement, the girl gets to keep the ring. So remember: If things don't work out - MAKE, oops, I mean LET him do the breaking up. But you know, I'm sure that won't happen.

If an engaged couple breaks up, the ring MUST be returned to the person who bought it. That will even hold up in a court of law. The ring is given as a "contract" and that contract is fulfilled through the wedding ceremony. If the contract is broken, the ring must be returned.

Oh, diane. I had given up on anybody else out there having some sense! Of course it was meant to be funny. I wish these two all the best, sincerely. But any woman who wouldn't dream of a ring like that, and keeping it, even for a moment, is kidding herself. And you know what? There is nothing wrong with that!

Hannah - no it is not considered a 'contract' in all states. In some it's considered a gift. Think about it. "Here honey, you can have this ring, but it means you have to tolerate my bad, unfaithful, illegal, or even violent behavior. If you can't do that and love me for the jerk I am, then you give up the right to have this ring." So Hannah, does that sound about right to you? A case like this was even on one of those TV Judge shows, and the woman was allowed to keep the ring.

Well, when we got divorced my engagement ring was considered a gift to me, and couldn't be used in the monetary add up of our belongings, it was mine in every way like he had never even bought it. Yes divorce is different but considering the way an engagement breaks up I think there are reasons when the bride to be keeps the ring (if she would want to).
