Robert Downey Jr.'s allusion to the fact that his 'Sherlock Holmes' character may have been partners with Watson both professionally and domestically has studio executives up in a tizzy. We're on team Sherlock no matter what side he chooses! Also, whose hair does the ultra-fabulous Vanessa Williams wish she had? The curvy answer after the jump!Execs to Robert Downey Jr.: Not So Gay, OK?
Publicists for the upcoming 'Sherlock Holmes' movie are very concerned that its star, Robert Downey Jr., can't stop hinting that the great dapper detective's relationship with Dr. Watson may involve more than just solving crime. "When Robert joked with Letterman that they might be 'homos,' Warner Brother executives died," laughed one industry insider who believes Downey is messing with studio bigwigs.
During Downey's interview on Letterman, he was asked if Holmes and Watson had "a different level of relationship." Downey quickly shot back with a smirk: "That they were homos ... That is what you're saying"
A chuckling Letterman replied "In a manner of speaking, yes ... that they were closer than just out solving crimes." After further banter, Downey left it up to the people. "Why don't we observe the clip and let the audience decide if he just happens to be a very butch homosexual," he said.
"The studio wants to position this as an action-packed adventure, not 'Brokeback Mountain 2,'" my insider joked.
Yet fear not -- I have been told the film will not disappoint any hardcore Holmes fans, and if the world's sneakiest sleuth does have a secret love that dare not speak its name, he doesn't kiss and tell in this film. There is, however, a good amount of man-on-man bare-chested fighting, so make of that what you will.
Vanessa Williams Wants Kim Kardashian's Hair?
When I bumped into Vanessa Williams (photo to the right!) at the opening of my friend Greg Giannillo's salon, I couldn't resist asking her which celebrity she thought had the best hair. Her answer? Kim Kardashian. "She has a thick, gorgeous, fancy mane of hair," Vanessa said. "I love height, I love volume, I love texture." And we love you, Vanessa, for turning up to support a friend in a time when too many celebrities are demanding $10,000 to make an appearance at events for people they don't even know! You know who you are, but thankfully, we're too nice to name you! Consider it a holiday gift. Xoxo, PopEater.
Remembering Brittany
All Brittany Murphy wanted was to make people happy and be back in the public spotlight again, a friend of the star tells me. "She was devastated a few weeks ago at an event in Los Angeles where she was helping raise money for disabled children. Hardly any press bothered to turn up and it broke her heart," Murphy's friend said.
That's a far cry from 1995, when her film 'Clueless' helped Brittany became Hollywood's "it" girl overnight, with the media following her everywhere. "It's difficult to have that level of fame at an early age and watch it disappear. You spend the rest of your life trying everything you can to get it back," a one-time star who has since faded from her A-list status told me.
"I wish Brittany was around today to see how much everyone really loved her. Brittany once joked she would die to be back on the cover of People magazine," a friend told me.
I'm just sorry it took that to remind us all how much we really loved you, Brittany.

No matter what RSJ says or does not say, the Sherlock slashers will do what they will. When I saw the previews weeks ago, I heard the Sherlock slashers go 'thud'. If the studios don't want 'gay' labels, perhaps they should consider not alluding to or making such relationships such an easy read. If the studio wants to make money from this film they might want to let RDJ loose and draw in the ladies!

"Elementary dear friend." let's keep this FAMILY FRIENDLY! I love Sherlock Holmes as a story series. I think I just hearD Arthur Conan roll over in his grave and scream not groan, scream. He was into Spiritism, but I doubt he was into that. GROSS!
ROBERT, JUST MADE ME ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO WOULD NOT WATCH SHERLOCK HOLMES BECAUSE HE IS IN IT......
Good Grief, this is the oldest news ever ... !
can you People Do something Different beside talk trash about others!AND there is God! but really i don't even go on the internet now that i am on look what i am doing!None of Us are in any right place to Judge RDJ. we do not know the entire story and really i don't care that his Life!
It was funny, get over it you HOMO'S!
What does "Hardcore Holmes Fans" need not fear there is no homosexual relationship. I am a hard core Holmes fan and gay with 5 children. What are you insinuating Mr. Shuter, Hard Core fans are straight...this is very disturbing homophobic pandering the day after Mexico City legalizes gay marriages. You need some gay sensitivity training, and especially if you are gay.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle intended Holmes to be hedonistic, and it is because of this hedonism is is open to all possibilities of thought in order to solve crimes. HOUSE is the TV version and a drug addict, and Downey is in recovery (from only the hard stuff) and he was being an amazing actor by being true to the original novels. Holmes would have deemed you a closeted homosexual or or at least a self loathing one.
I watched the clip from Letterman on the internet. The post on AOL indicated that Robert Downey Jr. "brought the whole thing up". However, it clearly appeared to me that David Letterman raised the question about the "deeper relationship" and potential homosexual overtones. I do hope the studio will not hold RDJ responsible for initiating that! I plan to see the movie and will make the decision for myself.
It's just stupid to allude to such things. Back then, it was still a crime to be gay and in Victorian London? You'd probably be killed for it!
Besides, will they refer to Sherlock using cocaine?
THAT is in the books, yet the films always seem to miss that part.
I AM A FAN OF SHERLOCK HOLMES AND WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCH THE MOVIE BUT IF THIS IS A DEVIATED VERSION JUST AS THEY DID WITH ALEXANDER THE GREAT, I WON'T GO TO WATCH IT...HOLLYWOOD RACE CAN NOT UNDERSTAND DECENCY AND PILLARS OF SOCIETY AND TRIES TO CORRUPT EVERYTHING..AM NOT GIVING MY MONEY TO THAT
slashers can slash any two characters even if they don't ever appear in the same room together.
I have no problem with gay's in general, but why do so many of them in the media like the "Rob Shuter" for instance think they have to put on thier "Flaming assed Fag" act?

ONCE MORE IS VERY SAD TO REALIZE THAT THESE ACTOR CAN BE SO IGNORANT, NOT EVEN BCOZ OF THE OVERPAY MONEY HE GETS CAN HE TAKE THE BOTHER OF FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH THE REAL SHERLOCK HOLMES, IF HE HAD READ HIS BOOK WOULD NEVER SAID SUCH A THING...I 'VE ALWAYS HAD THE IMPRESSION THAT RDJ IS GAY AND MAYBE THAT'S WHY HE CATEGORIZE ANY OTHER RELATIONSHIP AS GAYS
vile, demented, disgusting, evil, sickening,
Reply
Tom.....you finds gays vile? If you walked in on two good looking chicks going at it you'd be choking that little chicken on yours in a second.
Is it just me, but doesn't Rob Shuter look like an opossum? Rob Shuter is gay by default because no woman in her right mind would even look at someone so butt ugly.

Love your sense of humor Linda!
If Vanessa Williams wants Kim Kardashian, she can get it through a hair weave. All the Kardashians have extensions. I saw Courtney getting a weave on Twitter.
Reply
Yeah, Khloe and Courtney talked about having hair weave on a talk show I saw one day.

Maybe Jude Law is making Robert Downey Jr want to be gay. Jude is pretty cute.
