RDJ's 'Holmes' Too Gay for Studio Execs

Robert Downey Jr.'s allusion to the fact that his 'Sherlock Holmes' character may have been partners with Watson both professionally and domestically has studio executives up in a tizzy. We're on team Sherlock no matter what side he chooses! Also, whose hair does the ultra-fabulous Vanessa Williams wish she had? The curvy answer after the jump!

Execs to Robert Downey Jr.: Not So Gay, OK?

Publicists for the upcoming 'Sherlock Holmes' movie are very concerned that its star, Robert Downey Jr., can't stop hinting that the great dapper detective's relationship with Dr. Watson may involve more than just solving crime. "When Robert joked with Letterman that they might be 'homos,' Warner Brother executives died," laughed one industry insider who believes Downey is messing with studio bigwigs.

During Downey's interview on Letterman, he was asked if Holmes and Watson had "a different level of relationship." Downey quickly shot back with a smirk: "That they were homos ... That is what you're saying"

A chuckling Letterman replied "In a manner of speaking, yes ... that they were closer than just out solving crimes." After further banter, Downey left it up to the people. "Why don't we observe the clip and let the audience decide if he just happens to be a very butch homosexual," he said.

"The studio wants to position this as an action-packed adventure, not 'Brokeback Mountain 2,'" my insider joked.

Yet fear not -- I have been told the film will not disappoint any hardcore Holmes fans, and if the world's sneakiest sleuth does have a secret love that dare not speak its name, he doesn't kiss and tell in this film. There is, however, a good amount of man-on-man bare-chested fighting, so make of that what you will.

Vanessa Williams Wants Kim Kardashian's Hair?

When I bumped into Vanessa Williams (photo to the right!) at the opening of my friend Greg Giannillo's salon, I couldn't resist asking her which celebrity she thought had the best hair. Her answer? Kim Kardashian.

"She has a thick, gorgeous, fancy mane of hair," Vanessa said. "I love height, I love volume, I love texture." And we love you, Vanessa, for turning up to support a friend in a time when too many celebrities are demanding $10,000 to make an appearance at events for people they don't even know! Remembering Brittany

All Brittany Murphy wanted was to make people happy and be back in the public spotlight again, a friend of the star tells me. "She was devastated a few weeks ago at an event in Los Angeles where she was helping raise money for disabled children. Hardly any press bothered to turn up and it broke her heart," Murphy's friend said.

That's a far cry from 1995, when her film 'Clueless' helped Brittany became Hollywood's "it" girl overnight, with the media following her everywhere. "It's difficult to have that level of fame at an early age and watch it disappear. You spend the rest of your life trying everything you can to get it back," a one-time star who has since faded from her A-list status told me.

"I wish Brittany was around today to see how much everyone really loved her. Brittany once joked she would die to be back on the cover of People magazine," a friend told me.

I'm just sorry it took that to remind us all how much we really loved you, Brittany.

Vanessa Williams has always been and always will be a class act! I admire her so much for being the woman that she is. I have followed her career throughout the years and I think she is beautiful!

I like Robert Downey Jr., but since he had his OWN run-in with a "male maid" that he and his wife previously employed...maybe he is WISHING that Holmes and Watson were gay??

I also take offense at the "homos" remark. Everyone in Hollywood knows Robert Downey JR is gay. He's probably "done" most of the studio execs. How do you explain how he keeps getting a "second chance" over and over after his numerous drug binges, arrests and rehabs. I even recall an interview a few years ago where he claimed that he was only gay when he was using drugs. I am one gay person who wouldn't want such a gutless wimp on my team.

Sherlock Holmes was not a heterosexual in the novels written by Arthur Conan Doyle. He thought women were frivolous and beneath him. If he wasn't a homosexual, then he was an a-sexual. The studio should have done some literary studies before making the movie if they were going to be so ruffled about it.

RDJ didn't say that Holmes was gay at all in the Interview.... He only finished what Letterman was trying to say, and he said one can judge for themselves. I am tired of the media and everyone else trying to put a spin on something that isn't even there. Get a life and cover real stories. I don't have a problem with the gay population, but I am tired of everyone having to tiptoe around cause they might say something that might be misconstrued into something negative! Its bs and that is what is wrong with this world! Always trying to please everyone will get us nowhere!

Sherlock Holmes looks like a good movie I will no doubt be seeing the movie. RDJ he is pretty good actor.

The very same suggestion was made in the great Billy Wilder film "The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes." But when that film was released in 1970, the speculation was received with good humor. I guess everything's taken a lot more seriously these days.

If you think there is a "GAY" issue here, than someone does not know the entire story of his relation with Doctor Watson. This includes The Doctor getting married to a female at one point and being very happy about it.
