Brittany Murphy's Dad Will Not Attend Funeral

Angelo Bertolotti had not seen Brittany Murphy for more than a year before her shocking death Sunday, and he had never met her husband - but the distance between the father and daughter is not the reason Bertolotti will be skipping Murphy's Christmas Eve funeral. "If I wanted to go, I would go, but I don't want to see her that way," he tells E! News. "She was flawless to me. She was a little bright child. I have only good memories about her. She's a memory to me now. To me she's off making a movie somewhere."

The actress' 83-year-old father says he had no idea that Murphy was in poor health, and her death came as a horrible shock. "I can't believe it really," he says. "It happened so fast; I'm just trying to figure it all out right now. I'm very upset by it."

Bertolotti claims that he knew Murphy suffered from diabetes, but to his knowledge, that was the extent of her medical problems. "She had a couple of issues but nothing was that serious," he says. "Her mother never told me anything like that. She never said she had anything like was listed in the papers."

Full toxicology reports will not be available for weeks to confirm what lead to the heart attack that killed Murphy. Her husband, Simon Monjack, has discussed remedies the 32-year-old actress had been taking at home, but also stated that she did not take medication for a heart murmur as rumors have suggested.

So what? The father is old, may be in ill health or like me, does not do funerals. Public grief is not what counts. What counts is what is in ones heart and mind.

Honestly, why is this even a topic for discussion? Grief is a very personal matter and how each of us handles it is just that--personal. PopEater should cut to the chase and rename itself Feces-Eater.

I won't fault him for not attending. People handle grief in different ways. Funerals are difficult for me as well. My Uncle didn't attend his own Mother's, my Grandmother, funeral.

As much as I LOVED Michael Jackson, addiction is killing.....prescription addiction is killing everybody. If you have mental issues, please give it to you higher power. I did and I am/was a hard core alcoholic. The "Creator" that made us, will fix us. It's true.

Her father is 83 years old. He might not be in good health. So I cannot fault him for not attending her funeral. It would be a very painful experience. Bless his heart.
