For all you geniuses who think the decade is over, think again. Most of you have ten fingers, why don't you try counting to ten and figure out for yourself that a decade contains ten years and that means that the current decade doesn't end until the end of 2010! But still we have to be subjected to these stupid decade lists because most of the morons who inhabit the internet think the decade started in the year 2000, which happened to be the last year of the last century. The decade started in 2001. Learn it, live it, or lump it!

A decade is ten years. It's true !! Look it up !! So when we talk about the decade's best this, worse that, etc., we are talking about the period 2000-2009 inclusive, which is, no matter how you slice it, still TEN YEARS !!!! You geniuses on the Internet who think they know more than anyone else are the REAL morons !! Get a life already!! 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009.

Think of it this way, when a child reaches the age of 10yrs old they have lived a decade. The first year of life is not 1 year old, you are not 1 year old until after you have lived a year. The way you say it we wouldn't start counting the decade until 2001, that doesn't make sense. Use your 10 fingers to count, when we reach 2001 that would be one year, therefore when we reach 10 years that would be a decade.
The decade started on Jan.1st 2000 and ends on Dec.31st 2009. The next decade starts on Jan.1st 2010 and ends on Dec.31st 2019.
2000-2001 = year 1 2010-2011 = year 1
2001-2002 = year 2 2011-2012 = year 2
2002-2003 = year 3 2012-2013 = year 3
2003-2004 = year 4 2013-2014 = year 4
2004-2005 = year 5 2014-2015 = year 5
2005-2006 = year 6 2015-2016 = year 6
