Van the Man Morrison a Dad Again at 64

'Brown Eyed Girl' singer Van Morrison has announced he is a father again at the tender age of 64. The Belfast-born rock legend and his manager (partner?) Gigi Lee welcomed George Ivan Morrison III on Monday.

A statement on VanMorrison.com describes Van the Man's little man as "the spitting image of his daddy." It also makes it a point to add that George is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the United States. A spokesman for the singer said

The notoriously private singer hasn't revealed where the child was born or whether Lee is his wife or even a girlfriend, a spokesman told the British press Tuesday.

Morrison has a 39-year-old daughter, Shana Morrison, from his first marriage, and two children with his ex-girlfriend, former Miss Ireland Michelle Rocca.

He joins other 60-something stars like Mick Jagger and Michael Douglas who have become fathers again later in life.

For half a century, Morrison has effortlessly melded just about every style of modern music -- rock, blues, folk, soul and jazz -- to create timeless albums like 'Astral Weeks,' 'Moondance' and 'Tupelo Honey.' He was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of fame in 1993 but -- being so private -- he didn't show.

Wow 64, well at least the child will be supported for, for his life. The child also knows who his father is or was. I guess it better then men who fathered a child and never pay a penny or never acknowledge the child in his life. The government or rather the taxpayers will pay and pay for these children.

Wow. So many readers calling it "disgusting". It always amazes me how many intelectually stilted people there are out there. And exactly WHY is it "disgusting"? He didn't rape or beat up anyone. He had a baby with someone he hopefully loves. So what if he's "80 when his child graduates"? So may people in little boxes, so little time. Van Morrison is one of the most prolific singer songwriters of our generation. It's no ones business but his and his partners if they chose to have a child. I think it's sad that the child will not know his father except as an old man though. But how many of us remember our parents as young?
