Anna Kendrick From 'Twilight' and 'Up in the Air': Who Is She Again?

You know that cute little brunette from 'Twilight'? Nope, not Kristen Stewart, the other one. No, not Ashley Greene, the other one. She plays Bella's best non-vampire friend. Yes, that one! That's Anna Kendrick and she's taking Hollywood by storm.
The movie industry is officially buzzing: this talented actress is poised to become Hollywood's next "It" girl. Kendrick already stars in the phenomenon that is the 'Twilight' saga. And not only is she part of one of this award season's most buzzed-about flicks, 'Up in the Air', she's been nominated for a Golden Globe and SAG award for her role. There might even be an Oscar nod in her near future.
But, who IS Anna Kendrick? And where'd she come from? Well, it turns out, she isn't new to Hollywood at all. The 24-year old actress has been in the biz for almost 15 years. And has already received some notable recognition along the way.
At age 12, Kendrick was cast in the role of Dinah in the Broadway musical 'High Society'. Her performance earned her a Tony nomination (she's the third youngest to ever be nominated) and caught the eyes of theater casting directors across Manhattan. After spending several more years on Broadway, Kendrick made her film debut in the 2003 movie 'Camp' for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Performance, among other industry awards.

A couple years later, Kendrick landed her second movie role in the 2007 flick 'Rocket Science' and was nominated again for an Independent Spirit Award, this time for Best Supporting Actress. Kendrick credits the flick for her success in an interview with Movieline, "I know a lot of people think my big break was 'Twilight', but it was definitely 'Rocket Science'. Jason Reitman saw 'Rocket Science' and started writing this role for me [in 'Up in the Air'] ... and Catherine Hardwicke was on the jury at Sundance and she asked me to come in and read for 'Twilight'."
Later in 2007, Kendrick auditioned for and landed the role of Jessica Stanley in a little vampire film called 'Twilight'. As the film (and its sequel) exploded, audiences took note of the actress playing Bella's best mortal friend. And soon after, she snagged a supporting role in the George Clooney-helmed film 'Up in the Air,' directed by Jason Reitman.
Which brings us to today. 'Up in the Air ' is currently in theaters and Kendrick's been nominated for over 10 awards so far for her role in the dramedy. She's showing off a stylish side on all the mandatory red carpets that come with award season. She's staying out of the tabloids. And with some important members of Hollywood royalty already shouting her praises (think Clooney and Reitman), Kendrick's on the cusp of what could be a major film career.
She's not slowing down in 2010 either. Kendrick's already got two movies in the can, 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World ' and the third movie in the Twilight saga, 'Eclipse'. We're guessing it won't be too long before she's working on another film with more of Tinseltown's VIPs.
Many of Hollywood's hottest actresses including Penelope Cruz, Sandra Bullock, Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, and Julianne Moore will be hitting the award season circuit over the next two months. And joining them is a talented and welcome addition to the Hollywood elite, Miss Anna Kendrick. We're guessing it won't be too long before you'll be remembering her name.
