Kate Gosselin's first stab at reality didn't end up smelling like roses (more like a bad scented candle that you can't re-gift), so I'm left scratching my head with word that the original TV octo-mom may be looking for love via reality television. That's right ... a Kate Gosselin reality dating show. Oh, 2010, we don't know whether to love or hate you! Oh no, say it ain't so. Sources tell me the newly-single Kate Gosselin is in discussions to star in a new reality show -- this time focusing on finding new (and hopefully snipped) love! "Love her or hate her, people are fascinated by Kate," a TV executive tells me. "she has a lot of mouths to feed and Kate looking for love will certainly put bread on the table."
But before you return your TV to Best Buy, take note that the idea hasn't been greenlighted yet. "It's still in the development stage," says one insider -- and let's hope it stays there. Kate, we all want you to find love, but this time around, maybe keep the cameras out of it.
Also, may we suggest some titles? 'Date Kate!' or perhaps 'Who Wants to Marry an Octo-Mom?' ... no, we've got it: 'Oh,Give Me a Break!' Yeah, that one sings!
'Nine' = the Demise of Movie Musicals?
Speaking of singing -- after the disastrous debut of the movie musical 'Nine,' studio execs tell me it could be the final nail in the coffin of the genre. "Hollywood is scared of musicals. Even Disney abandoned the singing formula for a long time before they made under-performing 'Princess and the Frog,'" a fancy producer tells me.
That's is just too bad. I love 'The Sound of Music,' 'Chicago' and 'Fiddler on the Roof.'
"Every producer is looking at 'Nine' and wondering why it bombed with that cast. The conclusion they have all come to is musical don't sell tickets," the producer says.
Silly fools. It's not musicals that we don't like -- it's bad films.
New Year's Resolutions
I promise to not mention Heidi or Spencer (who is apparently Twittering about me ... thanks, Spency!) in my column for an entire year. Why don't we do our children and society in general a "huge" favor and stop sensationalizing people who are not deserving of the attention. The only "reality" in these reality shows is that these people have no talent and are nothing more than self absorbed attention seekers.
I imagine Kate Gosselin as that woman you invite to a christmas party that offends everyone and is never invited again. Or the lady in front of you at the check out line that holds up the process to have a personal conversation on her cell phone. PLEASE...(TV EXEC'S)...STOP REWARDING THESE NARCISSISTIC PEOPLE...WE DON'T CARE!!!

I agree, once you put a camara and crew into a situation it is not 'reality' anymore, everyone plays to the camera. (and acts stupid)
Gimme a break! Enough of this woman. Go to work and struggle like many of America's single mother's because they married geeks. You really think you will find "true love" on a reality show. Please......get real.

Kate can't go out and get a 'real' job to support her kids. With that big house and the mortgage, she can't afford anything but big bucks.
One thing bugs me...She calls the cops about the paps yet she sits in front of her house, the kids play in the front, and she feeds them in the front. They have enough acreage that they could use the back.
Why is she even in anyones thought about getting any kind of show. She is no one special and depends on the public to watch her shows so she can have money. Sounds a lot like welfare to me.

Bring back good movies ..I loved old movies that inspired people and you were not afraid to ake your children or parents to see. The same with TV . We need more shows that show families that have good moral values ..The days of J&K+8 should be history ..The stories that make parents look bad and kids even dumber should just be gone for good ..and we should go back to nothing shown till after 11pm till 4am that can be considered not for kids or young adults..we need to move the clock back 50 yrs

The majority of Americans have had enough of this circus called the Gosselin Family forced down our throats and we would all be happier if they just went away! Besides, the whole reality TV thing is so stupidily annoying and to have to watch pathetic people willing to do anything (to include humiliating themselves, their family and friends)to get their 15 minutes of fame is downright painfully disturbing! If Kate had a real heart and really was thinking about the welfare of her children she wouldn't want this glitz lifestyle for her babies to drown in. It will end badly!

Please this is a new year and we don't need Kate Gosselin and Octamom. Can't the TV find anything better to do with their time then make another Reality Show, especially with these two women. We really don't care for either one of them. We do hope the best for them, but they surely don't need a reality show or any other show. I know the public is tired of them. Go out and find some new faces, and please please NO MORE REALITY TV SHOWS, the public is tired of them.
