Forget the Ball, Kathy Griffin Drops F-Bomb on New Year's Special

Never-subtle comedian Kathy Griffin stunned her TV co-host Anderson Cooper on CNN's New Year's Eve special by dropping something other than that famous Times Square ball: a certified F-Bomb.

While Griff and Coop were chatting about the top stories of the year and got to Falcon "Balloon Boy" Heene, the funnywoman decided to give viewers a present and fumble the kid's first name. Even though the CNN host had already said "Falcon" to her, Griffin asked: "Fal ... Fu--ing? Falcon? How do you say it?"

Cooper's response to Griffin? "You're terrible. Really terrible." Watch:

CNN released a statement Friday saying it "regrets that profanity was used during our New Year's Eve coverage."

Griffin followed with a snark-filled statement of her own: "Like every other serious reporter covering the now infamous balloon boy hoax, I struggled to pronounce his name 'Falcon' correctly and have gotten a kick out of how many ways I've heard it pronounced by other serious reporters. Just add me to that list and happy new year!"

When Cooper told her she had something wet on her face, she replied " Ive been doing blow" and mentioned poppies and poppers, Anderson quickly played it off, but I was stunned....just after midnight East coast time, but still prime time on the West coast where myself and many families and viewers watching. I'll be even more shocked if she's invited back for New Years coverage by CNN.

I do not know anyone who thinks Griffin is funny at all. She just screams and yells and really says nothing funny. She attacks people and tries to say shocking things but I cannot imagine what kind of fan base she must have.

Lighten up. She mocks and ridicules pop culture and celebrities to the nth degree! Hilarious. Some people don't get her humor--each to his or her own. I'm going to see her live for the second time, as are thousands of others.

I think CNN culd do better with someone other than K. Griffin. She's not even that funny, AND SHE'S VERY DISRESPECTFUL. Anderson Copper deserves a better co-anchor, someone who lets him get a word in becuase he is much more insightful and observant. Thumbs down on that big-mouth Kathy. Start a new tradition, get rid of her, keep Anderson and get Ellen Degeneres.

I saw her on Lopez Tonight and she said that if she swears ONCE, JUST ONCE on New Year's Eve, she will sign her paycheck right back to the network. Let's see if she keeps her word.........(whatever that word may be!) HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!

Really? It's 2010 People...I not only think Kathy is funny, but very relevant in her satire and critique of our "cultural heroes." I do not agree with her 100%, but I do laugh. As for Glenn Beck, have you ever really listened to anything he has said or are you just making a "judgment call?" I am a fan of both. If you really listen, you will learn - you can learn from both sides.
