Elton John Helps Eminem Fight Drug Use

Elton John says he has been helping rapper Eminen fight drug problems for more than a year. John told BBC Radio Saturday that Eminem is succeeding in his well-publicized battle against substance abuse. "I've been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he's doing brilliantly," John says, reports the British Press Association. "I'm there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there's no point advising people if they don't want to do it."

John believes that as a recovered drug abuser, he is happy to help people if they want the assistance but drugs make people so cocky and arrogant that they often reject help.

Eminem, who had been accused of being homophobic, performed with John during the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards on February 21, 2001. The two sang Eminem's song 'Stan' to show the rapper had no hate for the LGBT community. Eminem won three Grammys despite anger over his lyrics, which critics revile as anti-gay and violent.

In May, Eminem admitted he'd suffered from a devastating drug addiction that led to him downing as many as 20 Vicodin, Ambien and Valium in a day. "The numbers got so high," he told Vibe magazine, "I don't even know what I was taking.

Following his first stint in rehab in 2005, the rapper said he nearly overdosed after an acquaintance gave him unidentified blue pills, which a doctor later told him were actually methadone.

much like the gloved one-another pill head-i dont really like emenem very much. but after fightting addiction my self ihave a great deal of respect for somone at least trying to get stait

Suzen, I'm sorry you're such an ignoramus with some preconceived, absurd notion that (GAG!) I'm jealous of morons like Elton John or Eminem? My goodness you silly girl, if I looked like Mr. John I'd want to burn my face off! And I don't consider myself handsome by any means. So you're foolish assumptions have been successfully debunked! As for the so-called music both of these dolts bag out, I consider it, along with many others, noise pollution. I could ramble on and on but I don't find it necessary debating this inane topic any further with some mentally impaired dingbat who "thinks" from her arse!

There is no doubt Rap music is one reason for the decline of our youth. I believe the people who really run this country purposely push this Rap crap upon us. It used to be only the Obama type people who listened to Rap but now, you see ordinary young people listening to it. We told our Grandchildren to never play that music in our house or anywhere else since we would banish them from the family since we are of Italian ancestry.

I'm a 62 year-old mother/grandmother of 7 and retired E-9 from the USAF. I grew up with Elton John and have always admired him and his music. I like Eminem too, not all his music, but some of it and I think his is a terrific story of rags to riches...unfortunately the drinking and drugs are a part of it too.

I say "thank you" to Elton John for reaching out to him and anyone else...drugs are a powerful addiction and ruin lives and families. Two of my granddaughters have drug and alcohol addicted fathers and it's a sad, sad story, not unlike Eminem. If Elton John showed up on our doorstep to help, boy, I'd be grateful. Don't hate what you don't understand. Returning from ANY addiction is not an easy road.
