Honestly, I don't think they want someone to drop dead on that show, but I can't watch it just because it looks like someone will. I think this show is great in how it encourages the right way to lose weight... eating right and exercising, but I have serious misgivings about how hard they exercise those people to begin with, and that they do seem to lose weight at an alarming speed... is losing 16 pounds in a week really healthy? I don't know. I do realize how dangerous obesity is. Someone will probably die on this show one day.

I agree. I am a new viewer and was very nervous. For people new to exercise, that is a frightening amount of training.
It's not safe for a lot of people to lost 10, 15 or more pounds in a week...but many of these contestants start off needing to lose 200 pounds or more...proportionally, a drop of 16 pounds just isn't as much to them.
I agree with what Hannah said. Good to the contestants for wanting to change their lives but doesn't losing an alarming amount of weight in a short period of time cause a person to lose muscle mass? If so, what happens to their heart? If it thins the heart muscle walls it will explode one day!
Wendy
The first three weeks is where all the contestants will have their highest numbers of weight loss. Men always lose more than women. The first week they lose a lot of water weight so having a person over 400 lbs lose 30 in the first week is not unusual. I used to be an obese person so I give these people a lot of credit....they are NOT doing it for the money, that's for sure !
If anyone drops dead, it is because people like you watch such garbage TV and keep it on the air.
16 pounds? Heck last night one of those twins (who together weigh over a half ton) lost 29 pounds in one week. Too much. Too fast.
If Jillian is so worried about the health of some of these people that are so heavily overweight, then why do they over excercise the first few weeks to where they're all falling down from heartattack? The show is now bringing someone over 526 lbs on the show and now the trainers are worried about health issues? I'm waiting for one of these times there's a law suit from someone actually falling over and dying on the show. That's why I watch it. To see if someone does die.

If you ever had a problem with weight you would know that this people have every excuse not to work out or quit early and it does take a hard attitude to make then move
OVER excercise? I've never heard that before.
I am from a very obease family. I was, by far, the smallest when I weighed 210lbs at 13. I made it to 234 before I realized(by accidentally catching an episode of Biggest Loser) that I needed to lose weight before I got as big as my grandmother and mother and aunts. I started just eating better and following the tips they gave to the contestants. I lost five pounds that first months just by changing my diet, but I stoped there. My body hit that plato. By then a new season was on and their first DVD was released. The DVD is hell it made wanna scream and cry and never touch it again. But I finished the first work out. I had done other work out DVDS and none of them worked me that hard. But the next morning I felt amazing. I was sore but I followed through with day two of the work out and it was easier. Within just a week of eating right and following the Biggest Loser work out I lost 6 pounds! Inspired, I continued. In a month I was back in the hundreds. That was with just 20 min a day for 30 days! Imagine the results I would have had if I was working out eight hours a day like these contestants. Jillian and Bob dont have time to be nice and sweet with these contestants. They only have weeks to make a huge impact and show them results that will inspire them to continue when they leave. They have weeks to get a lifetime of information to them and teach them how live right. The medical professionals are not "just waiting in the wings" they make the contestants go through many tests before they can even be at the ranch. Jillian and Bob are not the only ones that are helping these people lose weight. There are teams of men and women who balance and constantly watch these contestants to make sure that they are ultamely ok. Yes some of the contestants pass out and yes that's scary. As a person I would hate to see that so I can only imagine what it would feel like to be their trainer and see it happen. Cut Jillian and Bob some slack. They are not the only people in charge of this show. And they do a good job. They saved and changed my life and that was just with a DVD and a tip book. They are saving lives in a major way.
I wouldn't want to watch a show just to see someone die. Are you sure you meant that the way you wrote it? The overweight people must have physical problems because of the obesity and I would think that they would be put on a diet and some kind of exercise program BEFORE joining the Biggest Loser. I hope all goes well with the people on the show.
That is the most hideous thing I have ever read in a post.
CB - I think thats the point of the article. Jillian states the triners do not determine the challenges. Perhaps the experts (trainers and doctors) have little control over the extent of the training and it's the network executives making the decisions.
We all have to die 1 day, so why not on a show??
She should be worried. She has no education or training in any field related to health and fitness.

ummmm... actually she does. Did you even read a bio on her? She is a nutrition, health and wellness expert and co-owner of Sky Sport and Spa. Do your homework.
she is a certified trainer and nutritionist.read up on someone before you go bad mouthing her.geez.the lady aint on the show because shes just fit and can yell at overweight people and make them exercise.
Really? WHERE did she get her certification? Did she get an actual education or did she just get one of those weekend certifications that now makes her an expert?
She doesn't have an RD after her name so she's not a registered dietician. What is her college degree in? Does she even have a college degree?
So she's part owner in some gym. Big deal. Anyone can buy a gym. Doesn't mean you have to have any education or real training.
Personally I think she's one of the least motivating 'trainer's I've ever seen. Her training style borders on abuse and I'm amazed no one has popped her one.
I am not certified in weight loss either, but I am an Herbalife distributor.I sell weightloss products, vitamins, cell activators, energy tablets.Been doing herbalife for 4 yrs now.One of my ladies lost 100 lbs on the products and doing little exercise, too. So proud to be in this business.
