Howard Stern: Rumors About Artie Lange Make Me Sick

Howard Stern vowed on Monday to refrain from commenting on his hospitalized sidekick Artie Lange, but not before saying he "wanted to vomit" after reading rumors about the comedian's fragile health.

A spokesman confirmed over the weekend that Lange, 42, is in a New Jersey hospital, but no other information has been released.

On his Sirius Satellite Radio show Monday, Stern vowed to keep quiet on Lange's condition, but didn't shy away from showering his buddy with praise (via PhillyBurbs.com).

"Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy," Stern said. "He's a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don't forget how great he is."

Co-host Robin Quivers added that Lange "Is the most loving guy, always giving."

Stern bashed reports that Lange has been replaced with Jim Breuer, saying they were "absolutely false ... I don't know where that comes from."

Lange, who has struggled with drug abuse in the past, hasn't appeared on Stern's radio show since December and has canceled several of his upcoming stand-up dates. He was also busted in 2009 for a DUI.

I watched Sterns TV show once a number of years ago. He and his on air staff found great humor in trying to pick which celebrities would be dead by the end of the year. I "want to vomit" at Sterns hypocrisy.

I hear that the station he is on might go under this year. I received calls wanting me to subscribe at cheap rates. I think his style is the only way he can succeed. In other words by being dirty. If he was straight he would be out of work.

Some people there's just no pleasing! Howard Stern is a 1000x more educated than probably any one of us and Artie is *better* on the Stern Show than that ungrateful cheapskate Jackie Martling. Artie hopefully is getting some much-needed, helpful intensive therapy. He's gone through a lot in his life and the drugs aren't there anymore to mask what was dogging him. I wish you the best Artie. Hang in there bro. Howard Rules and the rest of the lame haters in here can lick my unwiped ass after I take a dump on your foreheads, to symbolize the space to be filled where brains should be.
