Kathy Griffin Banned From CNN

Hopefully Kathy Griffin's New Year's resolution was to be on CNN less, because the foul-mouthed comedienne has lost her visitor's pass after dropping the f-bomb on this year's show. Kathy Griffin Banned From CNN

Following her very controversial F-bomb-dropping New Year's Eve hosting gig, CNN executives have decided Kathy Griffin will NOT be getting a 2011 invite. "She was a total embarrassment to the network that calls themselves 'The Most Trusted Name in News.' Even Anderson (Cooper, her co-host) thinks it's time to say goodbye to Kathy," a CNN insider tells me.

Not only did the potty-mouthed redhead drop the F bomb on live TV, she also made not-so-funny jokes about needing a "bump" of cocaine and asked Cooper if he pleasured himself while looking in the mirror. As sexy as the Silver Fox is ... that's just too much, Kathy.

Even worse than the comedienne's desperate need to shock was the fact that the show was a ratings bomb, as it fell far behind the family-friendly 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve' on ABC.

Still, CNN publicist Shimrit Sheetrit tells me: "No decisions have been made yet regarding next year's show."

CNN, I find it hard to believe that you have not yet made a decision regarding someone who drops the F bombs live on your network!!!

Either way, it's nice to see Dick Clark on top like the classy fella he is.

Rosie's New Soul Mate

Although their romance is still in its early stages, friends of Rosie O'Donnell tell me the former 'View' host -- who revealed in November that she and partner Kelly Carpenter had been separated for two years -- is happier than ever now that she's with Tracy Kachtick-Anders.

"Rosie has a huge smile on her face and is saying she has met her soul mate. That love is better the second time around as she can be honest from day one about her relationship rather than hide it behind closed doors," a friend tells me. "Tracy is perfect for Rosie. She has six kids of her own and couldn't care less about how rich and powerful Rosie is. All she wants from Rosie is love."

I'm happy for you, Rosie. Best of luck.

'Harry Potter' Surprise

I spent New Year's Day with the ever-fabulous two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole at her open house in New Jersey. It was filled with Broadway singers (Michael Feinstein) producers (Randall Wreghitt) cute songwriters (Bruce Sussman) and lawyers (yuk.)

But my favorite was ... Alan Rickman, aka Professor Serverus Snape from the 'Harry Potter' films. Children from the neighborhood were two-deep looking through Christine's front window trying to get a glimpse of the mysterious Professor, and when they did, they couldn't have been more surprised. Snape was a doll. The only person at the party with more magic than Rickman was Ebersole herself!

I agree with the toothache sense of humor. Happy to see "most" of the public have some morals. She acts as if she was brought up in a barn!!!

Having her on that show just proves that CNN is NOT the most trusted name in news...not when you have an uncontrollable, foul mouthed, atheists on it as a co-host. People who say things only for 'shock value' are ticking time bombs...why would ANY TV station put someone in front of their audience knowing this fact ahead of time!!! This was no surprise...based on her past history of her other appearances. She is only out for 'shock value' in anything she does on any show...she has a history of acting this way and pushing the envelope! There were probably some young adults up watching the New Years Eve shows and this certainly wasn't what their parents expected their children to see! The 'casting' department needs to be fire!

I don't think she is funny, never have. However, if CNN (which I don't particularly care for) desides to keep her, maybe its time for Anderson Cooper to look to greener pastures (such as FOX News). He is such a nice, humorous guy. As far as I am concerned Kathy is trash.

So where is the executive insight that makes this so-called Network so 'trusted'?

I did nt see her invade their airwaves bearing weapons univited... of course I did nt see her because I dont watch that Network with or without her...
tho I m less inclined to watch it based on their being so 'shocked' over what they constructed to have happen - and act so mortified after the effect was nt ratings worthy.

Kathy is extremely entertaining to many...and this isn't the first year she was on CNN's New Years with Anderson Cooper (i do believe this was the third) So don't be so shocked.

Agree with you, I can't stomach her and won't watch anything she is on. i can't understand why public tv has her on their shows, she is suited for adult cable only.

CNN hired her for this gig, as they did last year, because she is so outrgeous. CNN should man up and take responsibility for this and not Kathy Griffin. They got exactly who she is, that is her schtick. I thought she and Andy were great and funny.

I totally agree, I surfed by it and watched all of less than a minute...I don't "get" her at all and don't see why she even had a show on TV. I don't know what CNN execs were thinking here, they only have theirselves to blame. Anyone who has seen her show knows what they are getting...and as the expression goes..."it ain't pretty!"
